I wanted to write a full tier list for AFK Arena for a reason – most lists I saw either used old data and didn’t really include the latest balancing changes or they simply listed some heroes.
For me, a tier list also includes some explanation of why a hero is S+ or why another hero isn’t. This is why I wanted to make a full list for the heroes that you should go after and that you want to have and ascend/level up in AFK Arena. Still, I also have several heroes in there that are worth using in mid-game and extremely helpful so having them is not a waste of time.
Overall Hero Tier List in AFK Arena
Here are heroes that perform well in all game modes and that you should always aim for and ascend and level up. Please mind that this list assumes the same ascension level for the heroes so you will see Hypogeans and Celestial heroes quite high although they are really hard to ascend.
Super IMPORTANT Info! Please read!
This tier list prioritizes for the end-game without short-term meta. If you want to decide what hero you want to build next you can compare them below. The problem with many tier lists is that they rank heroes that counter a strong hero will become ranked super high – this means a hero in S Tier can easily become B Tier after one balancing update or new hero release. This doesn’t happen in AFK Arena frequently, though, and you rather see a hero drop slowly. Good example is Talene that was top-notch tier in 2019 and mid-2020 and now is just average.
In my list, I want to give you the look for the endgame and what heroes will help you there so a hero performance in early or mid-game is not included in the ranking (although you find that ranking for early/mid game in the table). Neither the early nor the mid-game in AFK Arena is the place where people get stuck, it’s the endgame when players simply don’t have built the heroes they need. Also, building heroes that are good in mid game often become useless or almost useless in end game so you have invested resources into a hero that will get you stuck.

His kit is looking cool and promising but it all comes down how the stats and multipliers scale so don't go wild here right from the start and I don't see him becoming the primary awakened hero every player should go after right away. We will update here as soon as there have been more tests done with him to give you a clear picture but if you pull a gun to my had I'd recommend waiting a bit with him unless you are really into PvP modes, that he will be really strong in I acn already tell you that without knowing the the multipliers since his revive mechanic is just so crazy good. The rankings are predictions so far so don't call me out if something is not 100% accurte. Again, this is a first impression since people always beg us to make one, espcially on Awakened heroes. Overall, if you don't have a couple of the mandatory awakened heroes built, there is no need to think about him.

So, if you're not looking to powercreep over a well-built Khazard in Treasure Hunt, no real need to build him.

As of March 2024, this list feels like it portrays a painful misunderstanding of what defines this game’s meta. The harder you look at this list the worse it gets, with heroes like Twins and Lorsan above Emilia, just to name one example, though I’d be here all day if I named them all.
If new players stumble into this list and take it as hero priority, it’s actively sabotaging their account. These are the types of external website “guides” that the AFK community points to when saying “don’t listen to random websites, it’s always bad advice”. This is inherently misleading and harmful, I hope you’d consider reworking it.
Hello, the list is very different from the last time I checked it. I remember when Awakened baden was the less important of the awakened heroes (except for ezizh and talene of course) and now is in the best tier. Abelinda dropped to A+ and she was S+. I understand that things can change but the descriptions are not updated, even regular baden is up to B from the C he was before. Would you mind to explain what these changes are based on? Also, I notice that there is no longer PVP as valuation, how come?

overall rating is kot the simple addition of individual ratings and unless you are whale maxing out heroes pvp is not that much of a concern. the individual rankings show how heroes do in those game modes and overall is the overall viability what heroes make sense.

The overall rating is more like a priority takeing all heroes into account. I understand this might confusing but I don’t see the point you’re trying to make. The overall rank is the overall rank taking everything into account and the individual ones only the important modes towards end-game. So changing that one letter in the table won’t make a hero different or not, the priority stays the same, it’s correct the way it is 😉
Yeah No, thats kind of dumb. Thats not how it works. You’re literally just making stuff up and putting random letters there. The Overall Grade should just be removed. Its completely pointless. You give Thoran a C overall but he’s literally an S Tier in the area that 99% of players actually care about. It makes zero sense.

1) My list is not changing the game, the game works and I put my experience into this list. Disagreement is alright, nobody forces you to follow my list and if you have your opinion set that strong that you feel you know it better be confident and go ahead and pump Thoran with all you got

Is isabella really that bad? I’ve been using her as my main graveborn damage dealer for a while at 5* 60 engraving 9 furniture and 30 signature item. I use her in similar way as ainz and she carries hard for me while being squishy. I’ve found the ult to destroy enemy teams. By the second trigger it’s wiped most teams I encounter up to 38-40 and elsewhere just making it a case of crafting a team that keeps her alive.
Please let me know how you like the new layout, I think it’s a lot easier to use now with dropdown and search 🙂

Wow, old list was wayyy better. I from what i read it was less pratical to maintain but in term of UX it drastically dropped cause… it’s now hard to use (I even thought the site was broken, at the beginning). Having to click to see each detail (artefact, item etc), come back to the list, then click again for other informations loaded on another page, then coming back… is really unfriendly.
I would suggest to have all the informations visible at first sight without having to click (whoch is the main problem, imo).
Unfortunately, this guide can no longer be used as a quick reference. I’ve been using this guide for a year and now the majority of important information such as recomended si, engraving, or furniture isn’t listed here anymore. Before, if I needed further explanation onto why an si was recommended, I could view the si guide but now I have to have multiple tabs open just to see all the information for a single hero. Furthermore, the engraving guide only shows a small handfull of heros which seems almost counterproductive for a guide/tier list.
While I can understand the old format being difficult to update, this new format is very much inferior from a user pov. I think each hero needs a drop down box that lists all the important build information. Alternatively, show the build information by default, and have a drop down box that shows the description. The latter option would also make the page shorter.
As far as the Eternal Engraving list, please return the other heros to that list. Why drez is on the list but heros like Albedo or Skriath aren’t is very bizarre.
Granit is needed starting from chapter 43 at +30. He works in Lucretia’s pack. He puts marks with this helps Lucretia.

The main issue is it now takes a long time to find a hero on the list, mostly because you have to scroll past the description for each hero. Maybe if you hid each heroes description until clicked that would make it easier to browse the list.
