Best Troop Types

You really want to run purely Magic in his legion as his skills and also some talents that only affect Magic untis so don#t over-complicate things with him and bring them exclusively.

Best Hero Pairing for Waldyr

Velyn
Velyn
Liliya

Alwyn
Alwyn
Atheus
Atheus
Theia
Theia
Indis
Indis
Pan
Pan

Velyn as the primary hero makes a lot of sense with Waldyr for the reason as you then can use the Control Tree and he’s overall stronger. However, if your Waldyr is maxed and you haven#t worked much on Velyn you might consider running Waldyr as the primary hero in the legion. Both have great hero skill damage and slow the target so the legion you target will really have a hard time getting away (See full build here).

Liliya is another commander that does really well with Walkdyr and you might even consider using Waldyr as the primary hero, although be aware that many players tend to focus down epic heroes when they see them in the open field. But both together will deal a heckload of damage (See full build here).

Alwyn works as there is synerggy for the debuffing and if you don’t have the legendary magic heroes, this is probably your best bet (See full build here).

Atheus can be a great options as well as you get good hero skill damage plus he generates more rage so you can run a skill build for higher damage and still get the extra rage to cycle through your active skill more frequently (See full build here).

Theia provides shield and can provide your Waldyr with some durability. Not the craziest or best pairing but one you can use (See full build here).

Indis has the very long distance range for her attacks and provides some buffs/debuffs and heals. Not a wonderful pairing with a lot of synergy but you can unlock her and work on her consistently as F2P so you can also fit her in if the options above are not working for you (See full build here).

Pan also has the very long distance attack and some healing and should be your last resort with Waldyr if you don’t have the above heroes available (See full build here).

Phoenix Eye can heal your units up and increases the base stats of Magic Units. This is a helpful artifact to run with Liliya if you run her along another damage dealing hero so you can gain some survivability. Tear of Arbon can heal your units up and increases the base stats of Magic Units. This is a helpful artifact to run with Liliya if you run her along another damage dealing hero so you can gain some survivability.

Best Pet Synergies For Waldyr (NEW)

With the new war pet system in Call of Dragons it’s aso important to pair Waldyr with the right pet to gain more synergies. Please also check out the full tier list of all war pets in Call of Dragons here to see which ones are worth the invest in general.

Sapphire Faedrake
is the slam-dunk war pet for magic marches and a perfect match for Waldyr and goes really well with him
Ice Lizard
can be a viable backup instead of the Sapphire Faedrake and also deals damage and has a lot synergies
Thunder Lizard
is also working fine with him but I would prefer the two above rather than him just because they are a lot better

Best Builds For Waldyr

Below you will find the talent tree builds for Waldyr that make sense when running as the primary commander in any legion in Call of Dragons. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.

This is the perfect open field rage build for Waldyr, generating as much extra rage as possible to spam his active skill and keep enemy legions debuffed (and decrease their march speed if you expertised Waldyr). So, here’s the order I’d suggest if you haven#t maxed him out (yet) to get your talents unlocked in an order that gives you the best benefits. First go into the Skill Tree and get Intimidation as it will boost the good skill damage Waldyr deals. From here take High Spirits to gain extra rage from normal attacks that will help triggering his active skill quicker. Spriti of Rage is then the last talent to get in the Skill Tree and it ads more rage when you use a skill. The way it works is that he will trigger his active skill faster and grant more extra rage with that, etc.At this point you will move over to the PVP Tree and get Overall Speed for more march speed that helps a lot hunting and sticking to any open field legion you want to take down and then there’s another High Spirit talent that will stack with the one in the Skill Tree so you can get even more extra rage and Luck of Draw to reduce damage taken as some legions lead by Waldyr can be a little glass cannon. The last step for this talent build then is the Magic Tree where you first pick up Foresight to have a chance for even more extra rage and another Intimidation point for increased hero skill damage that works just well with Waldyrs primary skill. Last stop is Energy Boost to get one more target, as Waldyr is a multi-target hero and you want to benefit from hitting as many legions and targets as possible with him.
This build is for a Waldyr that really packs a punch and while the rage build above focus on dealing damage through his active skill as frequently as possible, this is to hit as hard as possible. You will start out in the Magic Tree and get the the points up to Energy Boost to get more skill damage, health for your legion and some extra rage that is helpful. From here we’ll move it all into the Skill Tree. Unlock your way to Spriti of Rage through High Spirit ad Initmidation form more rage and skill damage. Concentration helps you to gain a little defense while Focus and Raging Tode will increase your crit abilities that can break down your target and the final talent will be Caged Animal with an incredible stacking ability that will give Waldyr the ability to really pack a punch.
Last but not least, this is the tree build if you want to use Waldyr to hunt down players in the open field, espcially in a new environments. Thsi build deals damage but also focus on march speed and locking down the target so it can’t get away.

Conclusion

I hope this guide for building Waldyr helped you investing without wasting much time and resources. If you liked it or you further questions (or maybe also annnotations that you believe should be added here in this guide), please don’t hesitate to post them below in the comment section.
