Best Troop Types
Flying Units and Magic Units are the key with him. If you haven’t expertised him and not run him with Theia, you can just take regular Magic Units as the extra healing won’t matter much, but after all you want to run him with flying magic units – and that means League of Order needs to be your faction to run him at his full potential.
Best Hero Pairing for Atheus
Theia is obviously the hero pairing with Atheus that makes most sense as both are about flying units so you can run them with any faction and get the bonus from their skills – I’d prefer running Atheus as the primary commander in the legion for the Magic Tree and the rage accumulation with Theia as the secondary providing her shield and applying her buffs (See full build here).
Liliya also makes a great pairing and you want to use Liliya primary to have the Skill Tree for a lot of rage, add more rage from Atheus 2nd skill and then spam their active skill dealing a lot of damage plus have the mage synergy (See full build here).
Velyn works similar to Liliya but you can use the control tree with Velyn primary and lock down targets and silence them while having a lot of great synergy bringing Magic Units (See full build here).
Waldyr is also a setup I like as you have basically a epic version of Velyn here that works really well with Atheus (See full build here).
Alwyn also Alwyn is an option, Atheus can be a secondary commander to every meta mage hero in Call of Dragons (See full build here).
Pan can help make Atheus a tanky legion and if we talk synergies here they should absolutely be a prat of it, although not the vraziest pairing overall compared to the other ones (See full build here).
Indis also works in a supportive way here but I feel this is more a pair you want to find synergies in and they can work, I wouldn’t really recommend it (See full build here).

Phoenix Eye is the other meta artifact for magic units and you really sometimes want that big damage to deal although I feel this is a little overkill to equip on Atheus. Below you will find the talent tree builds for Atheus that make sense when running as the primary commander in any legion in Call of Dragons. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.
Using Atheus as primary commander of a legion along any hero that does skill damage and requires rage to use their skill more often, well, than this is the talent tree you want to use with him.
If you’re looking for a flying troops, mabile and quick talent build to use Atheus to put pressure on other players, well, than this is your talent tree that works the best.
