Best Troops
It won’t make much sense to use Saladin with other troops than cavalry as the bonus stats on his skills are for cavalry and all talent builds also favor the Cavalry Tree as well. Before thinking too much about it, just take cavalry and call it a day.
Best Commander Pairing for Saladin

Alexander Nevsky is an incredible pair with Saladin and they go well together. They are tanky, they deal damage and everything here works really well together and they are one of the best cavalry pairs in the game. William I is paired with Saladin another amazing cavalry pair and well-balanced. I also really like the fact that you only need a 5551 William to make this pair work so the investment here is really friendly. This was also the best cavalry pairs in Rise of Kingdoms before the release of Alexander Nevsky. Takeda Shingen makes an extremely tanky pair in Rise of Kingdoms and they are very durable, however, they will not deal that much damage. Genghis Khan as the primary commander for open field and Saladin as the secondary commander is, in my opinion, the best pairing with Saladin early game. Khan provides the damage that is needed while Saladin makes the march more durable with his survivability. Yi-Seong Gye (YSG) is also a viable secondary commander to Saladin and helps dealing damage, aoe and Saladin provides the survivability.

Best Equipment Forge Order
In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Saladin. I have tailored this priority order that you can follow step-by-step to prevent forging and running equipment that is not useful or only provides a very small improvement. Follow the equipment path step-by-step and you will have the best and most economical gear:

And for the artifacts I have tested the different ones here so you can see which ones perform the best (of course I only tested/list the ones that make sense):
Horn of Fury is a accessory that fits so well with Saladin as it has a chance to generate extra rage with every normal attack and is a little exra rage engine that helps Saladin cycle through his active skill quicker.Ring of Doom is just an incredible accessory to run as you have the chance to deal extra damage and this contributes so well with Saladin. Just a damage-scaling equipment piece that will make a great impact here.
Best Builds For Saladin
Below you will find the talent tree builds for Saladin that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate. This is the only build you should go with into the open field with Saladin. I think you probably haven’t maxed your Saladin so far so here’s the order that you should spend your talent points on Saladin:First go into the Support Tree and get Rejuvenate as quick as possible. This will give you 150 rage each time Saladin or the secondary commander uses their skill. This will make cycling your skills a lot faster and it will go from like 10 seconds until using it first to 5-6 seconds and this is a huge effect you will get.Now it’s time to go into the Cavalry Tree and get Charge, Galea and March Speed on the right branch first. This will be very nice in the open field. From there make your way up to Emblazoned Shield. Now get Halberd and and Dragon Saber in the left branch of the Cavalry Tree and go all the way to Disarm. After that it’s time to go back to the Support Tree and get Emergency Protection and you’re done with this talent build.
If you want to rally with Saladin, which is one of his biggest strengths, you should roll with this talent build here. As we’ve talked about it in the open field build above, your first goal will be unlocking Rejuvenate in the Support Tree as this will reduce the time needed to use his primary skill drastically and boost the damage output you have a lot. After that, go through the Conquering Tree without Meteor Shower – the reason for this comes later, simply believe me for a couple of minutes here.Once you’ve done that, it’s time to get into the Cavalry Tree and I recommend not getting Charge there for a reason, it won#t help that much and we can spend those talent points a lot better. In the end, go back to the Support Tree and there Loose Formation. That’s the reason we didn’t get Charge and Meteor Shower because we needed those 6 talent points here. With rallying you often enough get swarmed and reducing the skill damage taken is a lot more efficient than simply getting the chance for some more damage for some seconds or some extra march speed – this one is vital if you want to take Saladin out there on rallies.
Conclusion
I hope this guide for building Saladin helped you investing without wasting much time and resources. Thanks for reading and have a great day and see you out in the kingdoms.
