Best Troops
You can, potentially, use Attila with other troop types as well – BUT the thing is that for the open field you will use the talents in the cavalry tree and his 4th skill is really important that it doesn’t make much sense to bring any other troops than cavalry.
If you do rallies with Attila you’re also depending more on the other troops but a full cavalry march is still helpful.
Best Commander Pairing for Attila
Takeda Shingen used to be that dream combo and still is a viable combo for kingdoms that miss the newer legendary commanders. They had a time when they dominated the rally meta heavily. Chandragupta is a interesting alternative, providing less sustain than Takeda but offering great synergy overall. Alexander Nevsky is a good pairing as well, not because they share specific synergies but for the plain reason they have the mutual synergy of being both Cavarly commanders and Nevsky is simply so strong that they do well together. Xiang Yu is a similar category of pairing like Alexander Nevsky. Julius Caesar brings a lot of extra troops plus tankiness and boosted damage.

Best Equipment Forge Order
In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Attila. I have tailored this priority order that you can follow step-by-step to prevent forging and running equipment that is not useful or only provides a very small improvement. Follow the equipment path step-by-step and you will have the best and most economical gear:

And for the artifacts I have tested the different ones here so you can see which ones perform the best (of course I only tested/list the ones that make sense):
Horn of Fury is probably the best choice for running him in the open field as you can cycle through his active skill faster and make more impact with it. However, if you’re rallying with him (and you can expect to get swarmed), Also thinking about Vengeance or Greatest Glory to push up counterattack damage through the roof.Ring of Doom is just an incredible accessory to run as you have the chance to deal extra damage and this contributes so well with Attila, including counterattack damage. Just a damage-scaling equipment piece that will make a great impact here.
Best Builds For Attila
Below you will find the talent tree builds for Attila that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate. Here’s the one and only talent build that you want to use with Attila when you go rallying stuff. So, the first thing you want to get is Effortless in the Attack Tree. Especially in rallies, you will have enough time to build up that full buff and it’s absolutely worth the points. Now it gets interesting and I’d take Martial Mastery next. Martial MAstery normally is a deal with the devil because you will increase your normal attack damage a lot but also decrease your active skill damage – but Attila doesn’t deal direct damage with his first skill so there’s nothing you will lose but get a nice 6% increase of damage there. Also Fight To The Death is a talent worth picking, even when it increases the damage you will get – but with your primary skill you will decrease the damage the opponent army deals so it’s not that tragic but you will get another nice increase in normal attack damage dealt. It’s time for the Cavalry Tree and I don’t like to get Rallying Cry for that short buff, but there are several other talents that are relly working well here for Attila to make it worth spending a nice amount of them here.First of all, you want to make your way over to the left to get Undying Fury, that’s plain and simple some extra rage that will come in handy and also work great to get the primary skill used more often (and especially when running Attila with Takeda you want to keep the primary skills rolling as often as possible). As you’re already there you also want to make your way over to Disarm which will make the primary skill even stronger and give some nice extra reduction. Now get Halberd, Charge and Galea next to be able to make your way to Emblazoned Shield. Emblazoned Shield will reduce the skill damage you take and is super helpful in rallies when you get multiple skill damage. This is actually the build that I recommend and that many are using right now.If you look at the Conquering Tree, there’s not much that is really useful for Attila. Buckler Shield would be somewhat okay to get but it only reduces the counterattack damage taken, Moment of Triumph is just a short buff. Also Thoroughbreds and Entrenched don’t really get me excited that much and it would cost quite a fortune to get so I think those points are better spend in the Cavalry and Attack Tree as shown above.
Conclusion
