Best Troops
Although none of Yi-Seong Gye’s skills do target archer troops specifically, many of his builds depend on the Archery Tree and will benefit archers (especially for the badly-needed march speed.
Best Commander Pairing for Yi-Seong Gye (YSG)

Boudica (Prime) with Yi-Seong Gye as secondary commander is a great pairing for KvK Season 4+ and probably one of the best archery pairings towards end-game of a kingdom you can run. Nebuchadnezzar is another really strong pairing with YSG secondary and you have a ton of skill damage and archer synergy going on for LvL Season 4 and beyond. Alexander Nevsky is also a very good archer pairing with YSG as the secondary commander after KvK Season 3 – although you lose some utility from the archer synergy the defense debuff is just working so well here. Alternatively you can also use Ramesses but his defense reduction is less effective but a good alternative option. Alexander the Great as primary commander is an amazing commander to pair YSG with in KvK Season 2-3, although he is no archery commander and you would use a full infantry march. This becomes less useful later but for the named KvK seasons you will dominate heavily with this pairing. El Cid is a great commander to pair YSG early in the game if you don’t have any of the above commanders available. Still, I’d recommend running YSG secondary or you will get swarmed down heavily. El Cid is working wonders especially with his 4th skill march speed so make sure you have that skill unlocked, though.

Best Equipment Forge Order
In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Yi-Seong Gye (YSG). I have tailored this priority order that you can follow step-by-step to prevent forging and running equipment that is not useful or only provides a very small improvement. Follow the equipment path step-by-step and you will have the best and most economical gear:

And for the artifacts I have tested the different ones here so you can see which ones perform the best (of course I only tested/list the ones that make sense):
Ring of Doom is perfect to increase all damage dealt by a percentage so it affects pretty much any damage output and works well with him.Horn of Fury works perfect with all abilities and and let you cycle through his active skill quicker and quicker with the talent builds you can see below.
Best Builds For Yi-Seong Gye (YSG)
Below you will find the talent tree builds for Yi-Seong Gye (YSG) that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate. This build here is the one I’d run YSG with and although it neglects some of the rage you generate, it will give you march speed which is extremely important for YSG in the open field. Like I said, you want to get the bang but also the speed so when rebuilding this on a Yi Seong-Gye that is not fully maxed (what probably is the case), you want to create this build as follows:Skill (30 Points) – your goal is to get the march speed first because this is what makes you catch other armies on the open field, if you’re slow you can deal as much damage as you like. So, work towards the 6% extra march speed in the skill tree first. Still, I’d first pick Rejuvenate here before picking anything else in the Skill Tree.Archer (46 Points) – now it’s time to get as much bang as possible and buff your archer army up in the Archer tree. As you can see you want to get as much as possible out of it but you can’t get all the points in here (otherwise you would miss the extra march speed). All points here are well spent.
If you’re more interested in rally with YSG, this is a slightly adapted build that I’d use with more damage output and slightly less march speed. Please mind this is a build you’d only use if you plan on rally in a very early kingdom where this is a possible move to make.
Swarming a city is fun with YSg and this is the build I’d absolutely run for that. If you’re about to swarm a city and you want to take him as the primary commander, this is the build that will give you the biggest bang for your buck.
Conclusion
