Best Troops
As primarily rally commander and with his 2nd skill favoring mixed troop armies, Hannibal should always go with a march and army setup that consists of 3 different unit types.
Best Commander Pairing for Hannibal Barca
Aethelflaed is, without any doubt, the best option for open field along With Hannibal Barca as she also buffs armies with 3 different troop types (See full build here).
Julius Caesar will give your march more tank-ability but will not be super versatile. With Julius Caesar you can run a huge army capacity with much buffing and debuffing going on (See full build here).
Joan of Arc will add a lot of support is also a good pairing for the open field (See full build here).
Frederick is also a commander that is quite similar to Hannibal so they’re doing well together rallying cities (See full build here).

Best Talent Tree Builds For Hannibal Barca
Below you will find the talent tree builds for Hannibal Barca that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.
This is the best build for Hannibal Barca and I don’t think that anyone could disagree. And this is the best order to spend your talent points:
First of all you will go into the Attack Tree and take Lord of War and Burning Blood, both great talents to have, to ultimately make your way to Effortless, the best talent you can get in the attack tree for your talent points. Now make your way over to the Leadership Tree and and make your way on the right side to Strategic Prowess. After that take Fresh Recruits for a bigger army and then take on the sides the Armored To The Teeth talents. Then take Close Formation to max out the Leadership Tree with Name Of The King.
If you have Hannibal Barca maxed you then have some points left that you can put into the Attack Tree again with Armored Joints.
If you want to hit cities with Hannibal Barca, this build here can be also interesting. To get that build go over to the Conquering Tree first and unlock Buckler Shield and Moment of Triumph first and then make your way over to Entrenched, which works great when hitting other players cities. After that get Signal Flare and Marionette to unlock Meteor Shower over Tear of Blessing. No extra points spend int he Conquering Tree here.
After that go to the Attack Tree and get Burning Blood and Lord of War. This time we’re not getting Effortless because we want to get Strategic Prowess in the Leadership Tree with out talent points. In the Leadership Tree you want to make your way up through Hidden Wrath for some nice extra rage and Healing Herbs to Strategic Prowess.
If, for any reason, you want to go with the Attack Tree and take Barca to the open field you can play around with a build like this. First of all go into the Attack Tree and fo towards Effortless, which is the most powerful talent there. After that get Armored Joints and Unyielding just to get everything unlocked to make your way over to Last Stand.
After that, it’s time to head over to the Leadership Tree to get Healing Herbs and Hidden Wrath to get March Speed. It’s not that much but it definitely helps you. Then that take Strategic Prowess and Fresh recruits like we’ve seen it in the builds on top.
If you maxed out Hannibal Barca you now have the tough decision to either get Fight To The Death or Martial Mastery in the Attack Tree. I do not really like Fight To The Death because the damage increase is not that much and you will also get more damage, so I’d rather take Armed To The Teeth in the Leadership Tree to be honest with you guys.
