Best Aethelflaed Builds (Talent Tree | Skill Order | Best Pairing) In Rise of Kingdoms

rise of kingdoms aethelflaed build

Aethelflaed is a really fascinating commander bringing support, peacekeeping and leadership talent trees what makes her pretty unique among the other commanders in Rise of Kingdoms and I have here some interesting talent builds for you.

Aethelflaed Role

Some do define her more as a niche commander but she does really well against Barbarians and Forts as well as in the open field with strong debuffing.

Skill Order

When you star up Aethelflaed, you also unlock a new skill. This helps you fine-tune in what order you want to upgrade your skills as not all skills are equally good for her. This helps to invest your sculptures more reasonable to get the biggest bang for your buck.

Aethelflaed’s first skill is remarkable and applies one of the strongest debuffs in Rise of Kingdoms so make sure that you will max her 1st skill (Arrow of Iron) before you star her up.

Next up you can max out her 2nd skill (Thunderous Force) which is also great by reducing counterattack damage you take as well as slowing down enemy marches.

From here take her to 4 stars to try get as many points into her 4th skill (Fortress of Mercia). Her synergy skill is not that mighty that you want to max it out but you will land some skill points in there.

In reality, you will level her up as much anyways that you will max her out, so the skill order is more like a fine-tuning.

Best Troops

Aethelflaed doesn’t have any favorite troop type so you can bring the troops you like with her. Take care what commander you will pair her up with.

Best Commander Pairing

With Aethelflaed you have several pair options. In general you can use her as primary commander in Sunset Canyon and you will see a lot of other players doing the same. With her support tree you will have not many problems.

Sunset Canyon Open Field Barbarians
In Sunset Canyon, I’d pair her with YSG and archers for a great AoE damage output. With Constantine and infantry you can take a great damage reduction. Also Alexander secondary is a great pair with Aethelflaed and with her support tree you be running his shield a lot.

If you pair her with epic commanders you can use any commander dealing solid damage with his/her primary skill, Sun Tzu works well for burst and Kusunoki for AoE damage.

I can only recommend you to use Aethelflaed as secondary commander and hider her behind a strong primary commander like Richard or Charles Martel  in the open field – otherwise you will learn how fast she will get hunted down as support commander. Pair her with any commander you want to level up and gain some EXP with.

Best Aethelflaed Builds

Without any further chit-chat, I’d like to jump right into the builds for Aethelflaed. I have two builds that are the ones to take in the open field (the second one is more for covering the whole thing, not really that useful as you shouldn’t use Aethelflaed as primary commander there too much).

Then also two builds for barbarians, one for hunting them on the map and one against Barbarian Forts.

Important! I always have a recommended order in which you should spend your talent points. I also want to take the situation and recommend you my guide about leveling your commanders faster here.

Sunset Canyon (also Open Field)

This is the best talent build to use in the open field and also in Sunset Canyon:

rise of kingdoms aethelflaed open field build

Here’s the path to build this…

Level 19: First goal will be getting Rejuvenate in the Support Tree. This will reward you with some extra rage every time a skill is used (not onle the active ones). This will generate more and more rage and get her rage engine rolling and should be highest priority for you building this talent build!

Level 25/39: Now get Hidden Wrath in the Leadership Tree and gain extra rage every time your troops are getting attacked. From here go up the Leadership Tree and go for Strategic Prowess which will now buff your troop’s defense every time when you use a skill (and with all the additional skill you get from the other talents that’s happening a lot more now).

Level Max: Now make your way to Cage of Thorns to be able to apply that march speed debuff on enemy troops which makes them unable to get away from you.

Extremely effective build.

Barbarian Forts Build

This is the build you want to use when you want to attack Barbarian Forts:

Here’s the path to build this…

Level 19: First goal will be getting Rejuvenate in the Support Tree. This will reward you with some extra rage every time a skill is used (not onle the active ones). This will generate more and more rage and get her rage engine rolling and should be highest priority for you building this talent build!

From here go up the Leadership Tree and go for Strategic Prowess which will now buff your troop’s defense every time when you use a skill (and with all the additional skill you get from the other talents that’s happening a lot more now).

Level 55: From here get Thoroughbreds from the Peacekeeping Tree for that extra march speed. If you do attack barbarian forts frequently you will need to save some time and this will help a lot. Also, lower action point costs and more smaller benefits on the path there make it worth it.

Max: Now finalize your talent build with Fresh Recruits for more troop capacity, Domination & Killer Instinct for another stat buff and you have a well-rounded build for Aethelflead here that works great hunting down these forts.
