Skill Order
Best Troops
Aethelflaed doesn’t have any favorite troop type so you can bring the troops you like with her. Take care what commander you will pair her up with.
Best Commander Pairing for Aethelflaed
Saladin is a solid commander for pairing in the open field but in that case use Aethelflaed as the secondary commander. In general you really don’t want to run in the open field with her as the primary commander. Yi-Seong Gye (YSG) is a great commander to pair Aethelflaed with if you want to use her in Sunset Canyon as they work really well together in the way their mechanics work. Alexander the Great or Constantine are also commanders you can run well along Aethelflaed in Sunset Canyon. Richard or Charles Martel are also early-stage commanders in Rise of Kingoms that you can use as primary commanders if you want to take her out to the open field. Sun Tzu is a possible pairing if you don’t have that many legendary commanders, yet, and want to run Aetheflaed.

Best Equipment Forge Order
In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Aethelflaed. I have tailored this priority order that you can follow step-by-step to prevent forging and running equipment that is not useful or only provides a very small improvement. Follow the equipment path step-by-step and you will have the best and most economical gear:
And for the artifacts I have tested the different ones here so you can see which ones perform the best (of course I only tested/list the ones that make sense):
Horn of Fury helps her generate more rage anc cycle through her primary skill faster and is a solid pick with Aethelflaed.Concealed Dagger with the enemy debuff that targets health and as she already uses health reduction with her primary skill, you gain overall up to 45% health reduction of your enemy, that’s huge.
Best Builds For Aethelflaed
Below you will find the talent tree builds for Aethelflaed that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate. This is the best talent build to use in the open field and also in Sunset Canyon and here’s the order how you should build it… Here’s the path to build this… First goal will be getting Rejuvenate in the Support Tree. This will reward you with some extra rage every time a skill is used (not onle the active ones). This will generate more and more rage and get her rage engine rolling and should be highest priority for you building this talent build! Now get Hidden Wrath in the Leadership Tree and gain extra rage every time your troops are getting attacked. From here go up the Leadership Tree and go for Strategic Prowess which will now buff your troop’s defense every time when you use a skill (and with all the additional skill you get from the other talents that’s happening a lot more now). Now make your way to Cage of Thorns to be able to apply that march speed debuff on enemy troops which makes them unable to get away from you. This is the build you want to use when you want to attack Barbarian Forts. First goal will be getting Rejuvenate in the Support Tree. From here get Thoroughbreds from the Peacekeeping Tree for that extra march speed. If you do attack barbarian forts frequently you will need to save some time and this will help a lot. Also, lower action point costs and more smaller benefits on the path there make it worth it. Now finalize your talent build with Fresh Recruits for more troop capacity, Domination & Killer Instinct for another stat buff and you have a well-rounded build for Aethelflead here that works great hunting down these forts.
