Best Troop Types

Alistair is a cavalry commander and interesting enough only his expertise skill targets cavalry specifically so you can wildly combine him as the secondary deputy in your legion with also infantry heroes. Once you use hima s the primary commander, though, I’d run him on the cavalry build shown below and that benefits specifically cavalry units so run him with cavalry. I personally think he should not be the primary commander when rally as he is an epic.

Best Hero Pairing for Alistair

Bakshi
Bakshi
Kregg
Kregg
Hosk
Hosk
Emrys
Emrys
Theia
Theia
Eliana
Eliana

Bakshi as legendary cavalry commander and has a similar skill kit to AListair and can be paired with him quite well. The higher-leveled hero should be the primary commander in your legion here (See full build here).

Kregg might come as a surprise but he is versatile and minus the small flying unit synergies you will miss out on works really well with Alistair and the only real downside here is that you will have a target on your back with this legionas they are both epic heroes (See full build here).

Hosk as overall rally and universal buffing hero can be a great pairing for pretty much everything you want to do with Alistair and can be also at lower level a good legion to run (See full build here).

Emrys is a cavalry commander with insane damage output and their added rage accumulation when unlocked is just insane, letting Emrys spam his primary high-damage skill over and over (See full build here).

Theia is a universal hero that adds a lot of sustain to your legion and can run with Alistair, too. This is, however, more a tanky march you want to run if you need that survivability (See full build here).

Eliana is also a universal hero you can combine with Alistair in a early-kingdom stage or if you don’t have any of the above pairings available (See full build here).

Sorland’s Blade also works well and gives increadible damage and attack buff, but I prefer the extra march speed from Sorland’s Blade a little more. Still an amazing artifact to use. Kingslayer also works well and gives increadible damage and attack buff, but I prefer the extra march speed from Sorland’s Blade a little more. Still an amazing artifact to use.

Best Pet Synergies For Alistair (NEW)

With the new war pet system in Call of Dragons it’s aso important to pair Alistair with the right pet to gain more synergies. Please also check out the full tier list of all war pets in Call of Dragons here to see which ones are worth the invest in general.

Golden Roc
is the only war pet I see making much sense with Alistair unless you look at the heroes you pair him up with for other synergies

Best Builds For Alistair

Below you will find the talent tree builds for Alistair that make sense when running as the primary commander in any legion in Call of Dragons. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.

I personally believe that this cavalry talent build is the best to run with Alistair for the simple reason that he will neither be a great tank with the tank build or a good rally leader other than really early in the game as he is an epic commander and falls off heavily as you progress compared to the legendary heroes we have in Call of Dragon. The order how you should invest his talents points if you haven’t have him at max level already will be unlocking the core node that reduces your march speed but increases your attack and defense. To make up for this go directly into the Cavalry Tree after that and pick up the march speed as this is important to have with cavalry as you want to be quick. Then take the extra attack and High Spirits to generate more rage and let him use his primary skill more often + Perfect Ferocity for a nice burst when you enter a battle. From here take Swift Analysis to reduce counterattack damage taken,Trample for more attack and Triumphant Return to gain some healing that helps staying in the field longer. Finally get Blood Mark for some extra attack damage and this is quite a lot when you look at his hero skill damage + the extra rage we generate with this talent build. The last points now should go into the Tank Tree with Overall Speed for more march speed, Encouraging Dance to make him use his primary skill more often and deal the extra skill damage from Blood Mark. The last one, in my opinion, should be Unyielding Spirit to reduce the hero skill damage you take.

Conclusion

I hope this guide for building Alistair helped you investing without wasting much time and resources.
