Best Troops

Belisarius is all about cavalry and you shouldn’t use any other unit type with him. His 3rd and expertise skill both care about cavalry and also add march speed to them to get out of squishy situations, with other troops you will get a problem at this point. Also, all reasonable talent builds with Belisarius require him to use the cavalry tree for talents.

Best Commander Pairing for Belisarius

Boudica

Pelagius

Cao Cao can be a really varsatile open field march with Belisarius (See full build here).

Baibars offers a ton of march speed in case you need to get out or into a situation in the open field (See full build here).

Joan of Arc offers rage and makes a quick march so you can leave any tricky situation in the open field quickly (See full build here).

Boudica provides a ton of rage that helps him and you’ll gain some healing, too (See full build here).

Pelagius also shares quite some synergies with Belisarius and can make a decent open field march pairing (See full build here).

Best Equipment Forge Order

In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Belisarius. There are different builds for wherever you are right now, from beginner to veteran:

Best Talent Tree Builds For Belisarius

Below you will find the talent tree builds for Belisarius that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.

So, if you want to run around in the open field with a general build, this is the one that I use myself during KvK and that I can really recommend. A little disclaimer, this is not the fastest possible build, but in my opinion a very fast build for Belisarius if you want to run around in the open field and take down farming armies. If you don’t have Belisarius maxed out, you want to spend your points in that order:

First, go into the Cavalry Tree and get Charge to get to the notes behind it that will increase your march speed. After that, get Galea and the other march speed node behind it. Now you can get Emblazoned Shield to reduce the skill damage you’re taking. It’s now time to go to the other side of the Cavalry Tree and get Dragon Saber and Halberd and make your way up to Disarm. You also have another extra march speed for cavalry units there, which you should use exclusively with Belisarius and you already picked up some nice extra speed. Now you want to get Rallying Cry maxed out to finish your work on the Cavalry Tree.

Up next you go into the Mobility Tree and get Lightning Charge and Spiked Armor which is helpful for sure when you’re running around in the open field. Then make your way to Hasty Departure for that super strong march speed boost. You can also use that now to charge at a resource node on your way or use a resource node on the map to get away – I really find that useful here and there so it’s a no-brainer for me to pick Hasty Departure. Last points then will go into the Peacekeeping Tree where you need to spend some points towards barbarians but you want to make your way to Thoroughbreds for another march speed increase. Now you’re really fast and still have a well-balanced talent build for Belisarius.

If you, however, want to go out there to hunt barbarians or attack fortresses, this is the build that you rather want to use. With this build you want to go into the Peacekeeping Tree first because there are several things that will give a nice benefit if you plan to fight against barbarians exclusively with Belisarius.

So, get Insight first to reduce the amount of action points you need to get more of them in the same time – this is without any doubt the first talent you want to unlock. Next, I’d get Quick Study to get Trophy Hunter unlocked – this will give you an additional resource pack for every barbarian you slay and will add up in the long run pretty well, so get it as soon as possible. Now you should go into the Cavalry Tree and go to Undying Fury as quick as possible to generate extra rage with every attack.

Now get back into the Peacekeeping Tree and get Killer Instinct, Domination and Thoroughbreds as well there. After that it’s time to go back into the Cavalry Tree to get your path towards Rallying Cry. You might notice that Rallying Cry only has 3/5 in this build in favor of getting Undying Fury – I personally find that better but you can also think about dropping 2 more points into Rallying Cry and only get 1 point into Undying Fury, up to you. I do like the extra rage more but that’s something we can discuss int he comments .

Best Formation + Armaments

Formation and Armaments are supposed to work perfectly with your commanders kit or you will find yourself very quickly in a disadvantage on the battlefield – and with so many variations it can be tough to stay on top. Here is what the works best in today’s meta:
