Best Troops

If you use him in the open field use Infantry to get his march speed buff that is really good along all other traits from the Infantry Talent build below. For your city defense troop types are mixed anyway.

Best Commander Pairing for Pericles

Charles Martel

Richard
Richard
Phyrrus
Phyrrus

Sun Tzu is the slam-dunk pairing with him also for defending your city in very early stages (please keep in mind that youwill switch to legendary defender for your city early anyway) but also Sun Tzu with him in the open field with a infantry march is a viable epic pairing in early stages (See full build here).

Bjorn Ironside can also be a pairing for open field with the infantry synergy and a full infantry march if you have him maxed out or high on your priority list. Overall, also when looking at the fact that they are epic commanders, not the big banger you will run very long in the game (See full build here).

Charles Martel also has shielding and if you combine them together, even when your Charles Martel is at a low upgrade stage, you will shield back-to-back and make it hard for anybody to actually take them down, also with the march speed bonus (See full build here).

Richard with the shielding and healing can be a durable setup that is hard to get down and you don’t have to have your Richard leveld up too much – for early kingdoms a good infantry march (See full build here).

Phyrrus is released along him and their synergy between shielding and buffing is good. On paper a great synergy but in reality if you are at a stage where you really consider running him as epic you don’t have an expertised Phyrrrus available and, the other way round, if you have a fairly upgraded pHyrrus you are having better pairings to go with (See full build here).

Best Equipment Forge Order

In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Pericles. There are different builds for wherever you are right now, from beginner to veteran:

Best Talent Tree Builds For Pericles

Below you will find the talent tree builds for Pericles that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.

This is the talent build to use with Pericles for open field and early-stage brawling with a full infantry march, getting the Infantry Tree maxed out and then put the leftover points in the good talents that give good value.

When we talk about priority here, I’d jump into the Support Tree first to get Rejuvenate first as this is giving a huge rage benefit and his core is the shielding and improving stats before going into the Infantry Tree to ramp up his infantry stats.

When you are running Pericles as your early-kingdom city defender you might switch up things a little bit but going too deep into the Garrison Tree is not making a lot of sense when looking at his mechanics, tbh.

Also go first into the Support Tree for Rejuvenate and then Emergency Protection as shielding and damage reduction is your biggest and only chance to perform well defending your city with him. From here take the shown talents in the Garrison Tree before getting the best out of the Infantry Tree as shown below without affecting infantry units only. This is the build that makes most sense to defend your city with pericles as your primary commander.

Best Formation + Armaments

Formation and Armaments are supposed to work perfectly with your commanders kit or you will find yourself very quickly in a disadvantage on the battlefield – and with so many variations it can be tough to stay on top. Here is what the works best in today’s meta:
