Best Troops
Pelagius is all about cavalry. Not only his 2nd skill only boosts cavalry, no, also every single build that makes sense for him include at least 20+ points into the cavalry tree.
Best Commander Pairing for Pelagius

Belisarius Any legendary early-kingdom commander that has march speed and ideally is about cavalry can be used along Pelagius – although I’d probably use Pelagius as the secondary commander in those setups. Commanders that work would be Minamoto, Saladin, Cao Cao or Genghis Khan. Belisarius with Pelagius is a great cavalry pairing with a lot of synergy but also a ton of march speed and a very useful early-kingdom epic open field pairing. Sun Tzu has less march speed but provides Pelagius with an incredible rage egninge and also buffs up damage. If you pair them up you really want to use a talent build that adds march speed, though. Boudica can also work well with Pelagius but i’d always prefer Belisarius or Sun Tzu, tbh. Joan of Arc is a good epic support commander that you can also use along Pelagius. She can fit every commander and they make up a solid epic pairing for open field that way.

Best Equipment Forge Order
In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Pelagius. I have tailored this priority order that you can follow step-by-step to prevent forging and running equipment that is not useful or only provides a very small improvement. Follow the equipment path step-by-step and you will have the best and most economical gear:

Best Builds For Pelagius
Below you will find the talent tree builds for Pelagius that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate. As I said, this is the build that you should use when you have T5 troops unlocked. So, here’s the best way to re-build this build when you don’t have Pelagius fully maxed out yet:Cavalry Tree will be the first station for this build and you really want to make your way to Rallying Cry as fast as possible without spending any talent points somewhere else than needed to get there.Once you’ve done that you can get the extra skills points into Undying Fury to get the extra rage as I mentioned in the beginning of this guide here.Skill Tree is now where you can start spending your leftover points. Rejuvenate should be the first stop to get even more rage out of the primary skill when used. If you have maxed him out the last points can go into Heraldic Shield for some nice damage reduction and Tactical Mastery and Latent Power for some extra skill damage. I don’t see any other points in the talent tree available at this point that make more sense.
Now here’s the talent tree build that I recommend using up to the point where you unlock your Tier 5 troops. This is still a strong build so don’t get me wrong, but without T5 Cavalry you should rather go for the skill tree to get the biggest bang for your buck. The main objective here is skill damage increase, damage reduction and, of course, rage generation with Pelagius.Skill Tree is the first stop here and you want to max it out as fast as possible by going to Rejuvenate first and then get Feral Nature unlocked as fast as possible. Don’t spend any extra points here because you rather want to spend them in the Cavalry Tree.Cavalry Tree has also some nice things to get and the first one should be Charge to get Emblazoned Shield as fast as possible to get skill damage reduced. Reason for this is that many people target Cavalry so reducing the damage taken here will help a lot. After that, Undying Fury is a good choice to get some more rage. With the last 3 points left you have now several options that I all like somehow. Latent Power in the Skill Tree is nice for some extra skill damage. Halberd in the Cavalry Tree is also nice to get more damage against Archer units that you will see quite a lot with this setup and running cavalry army. Naked Rage is also an option but it’s actually hard if you get swarmed so I’d recommend thinking about that very carefully. You will run against several legendary commanders and they deal more skill damage while you won#t do that much so having 2% more damage for the cost of getting 2% more damage is probably not the best option.
Conclusion
I hope this guide for building Pelagius helped you investing without wasting much time and resources. If you liked it or you further questions (or maybe also annnotations that you believe should be added here in this guide), please don’t hesitate to post them below in the commen section. Thanks for reading and have a great day and see you out in the kingdoms.
Please, correct the skill tree image. It is El Cid tree.
