Best Hermann Builds (Talent Tree | Skill Order | Best Pairing) In Rise of Kingdoms

rise of kingdoms hermann build

Hermann is actually a very useful commander in Rise of Kingdoms, especially if you pair him up with El Cid to get the 3-second silence ability which can be really devastating to your enemies.

Still, a commander is only as strong as his talent build so I wanted to show you several builds here that have proven to be the best-working ones in Rise of Kingdoms.

Hermann Role

There are actually two things you will do with Hermann – one is pairing him up with El Cid as a secondary commander to get this super sweet 3-second silence on your enemy and he also contributes well to the rage engine with his National Hero passive skill.

Skill Order

When you star up Hermann, you also unlock a new skill. This helps you fine-tune in what order you want to upgrade your skills as not all skills are equally good for him. This helps to invest your sculptures more reasonably to get the biggest bang for your buck.

Hermann’s skills are really sweet and to get the most out of it, you want to max out his 1st skill before you star him up.

From here take him to 2-Star and also max out his 2nd skill that is really viable in the open field.

The 3rd skill is quite a niche one unless you’re using Hermann as you garrison commander, what not many do unless you’re really early in the game. So, the best choice here is to take him to 4-Star from 2-Star and try to land as many points into his 4th skill.

His 4th skill is amazing, even at skill level 1. It will grand a lot more rage so you can use Hermann’s primary skill more frequently that will silence and reduce enemy rage.

In the long run you will max him out and get the expertise skill as well, but as soon as you have unlocked his 4th skill to any level you’re good to go with Hermann.

Best Troops

Unless using Hermann as the garrison commander, you should prioritize archers with Hermann’s 2nd skill buffing archers also in march speed. This is a nice boost and bringing a mixed army will neglect the march speed buff totally.

Best Commander Pairing

With Hermann you will have multiple interesting options if you’re using him as the primary commander:

Garrison Open Field Barbarians
Hermann shares the same talent trees with Kusunoki and both care about skill damage, so they are a perfect match. Sun Tzu will be a pairing amazing with loads of skill damage and rage engine that will make Hermanny roll his skill more frequently and silence the enemy. All commanders above do work really well with Hermann!

With El Cid you can even shut down your enemy entirely with combined silencing.

Best Hermann Builds

So, I promised you some builds and without further ado, I want to show them to you.

Actually, they are pretty similar to the builds used on Kusunoki Masashige so don’t get confused here to see the same ones if you have checked out my talent builds for him 😉

Skill/Archer Tree Build

This is the primary talent tree build that I would use on Hermann:

Build with RoKTalents Builder

So, here’s the best way to replicate this build when you don’t have Hermann fully maxed, yet:

Skill Tree is the first priority here and you want to get Rejuvenate first for that sweet sweet extra rage and then move over to Feral Nature as fast as possible to get the extra rage. After that get Clarity.

Like I said in the beginning, Hermann is here to contribute to the rage generation and this will make him a lot effective doing it. Naked Rage is a side talent that I also recommend to get but you can also go down the Archery Tree before getting this as it’s optional for getting Feral Nature unlocked.

Archery Tree comes next to get up to Venomous Sting that will give him and his secondary commander a real nice buff in damage dealt. I’d try to get Razor Sharp first because it means even more additional rage which helps a lot.

If you decide to not get Naked Rage in the Skill Tree you can also think about getting Rapid Fire in the Archery Tree. I don’t find huge differences between the two in performance with Hermann, it’s just if you prefer the consistent buff over trying to get the skills damage boost.

Garrison Build

Hermann is also a solid city defender commander, especially if you’re earlier-ish in Rise of Kingdoms and don’t have any stronger legendary commander to protect your city – and that’s the build I recommend that will keep you from getting swarmed too easily:

Build with RoKTalent Builder

And here’s how to allocate your points in the right priority:

Skill Tree is your first stop. I know this sounds weird because you think defense is about the garrison tree, right? Let me explain…

The skill tree doesn’t care about what troops you have and when we talk about city defense you will always have mixed troops so you want all of them to get a buff rather than only having Archer troops buffed, makes sense right?

Like in the build above go to Rejuvenate first and then get Clarity with Feral Nature as well. I explained above why you should follow that order so I don’t want to repeat it now.

Archer Tree is the next priority and you want to get Razor Sharp for the extra rage generation, this is very important for Hermann to be as effective as possible so keep that in mind when spending your points in the talent tree.

Rapid Fire here is also really important to get because you have mixed troops when defending your city and this will give all of them a buff.

Garrison Tree now should be focused to unlock the Nowhere To Turn skill that also give you additional rage when getting attacked. The reason why using the Archery Tree before that is that you will not just get the extra rage when you defend your city but also for every normal attack which is better in my opinion, especially if you’re using Hermann earlier in Rise of Kingdoms.

Last one is Impregnable to lower the skill damage taken.
