Best Troops

Unless using Hermann as the garrison commander, you should prioritize archers with Hermann’s 2nd skill buffing archers also in march speed. This is a nice boost and bringing a mixed army will neglect the march speed buff totally.

Best Commander Pairing for Hermann

Keira

Boudica
Boudica

Kusunoki and Hermann share the same talent tree and both care about skill damage, so they are a perfect match. Sun Tzu will be a pairing amazing with loads of skill damage and rage engine that will make Hermanny roll his skill more frequently and silence the enemy. El Cid is even a pairing that let you silence the enemy entirely. Keira is also a viable commander to pair with Hermann. Boudica is apairing for open field or Canyon or barbarians that works well with Hermann, too.

Best Equipment Forge Order

In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Hermann. I have tailored this priority order that you can follow step-by-step to prevent forging and running equipment that is not useful or only provides a very small improvement. Follow the equipment path step-by-step and you will have the best and most economical gear:

Chain Mail
Chain Mail is super cheap to craft and gives some attack so it's the best first gear item to craft and equip
Sturdy Boots
Sturdy Boots will give some defense and gathering speed which is not too exciting but they are also cheap to craft and give at least a few stats and should be your second gear item to equip
Helm of the Phoenix
Helm of the Phoenix is the first green item to craft and equip and although the stats overall are not too impressive, at this early stage they still help and are a solid progress
Leather Gloves
Leather Gloves gives some health which is always good (and I mentioned numerous times that health is the strongest stat in the game) so you can't go wrong now with this as your next gear item, espcially considering the low crafting costs
Ranger Trousers
Ranger Trousers is also not too exciting but the only green piece that gives any stats to archers so take it
Blessed Blade
Blessed Blade is the last open gear slot to equip and the reason why I recommend this last is that archers normally don't have a huge problem with attack and this item provides attack), they normally struglge more with durability in combats so this will make you deal more damage which is fine but doesn't help with any defensive stats at all - for that reason I recommend this gear item last here
Commanders Heavy Armor
Commanders Heavy Armor is the next gear piece and you should skip the green one here for sure as it is even worst for archer stats than the white gear piece you're having, so get the blue directly and save yourself some crafting resources and the health increase you get here is quite massive
Staff of the Lost
Staff of the Lost should be the next gear to replace the green one, for the simple reason that you can now get defense instead of attack which makes your march a lot more durable and reliable
Greaves of the Exile
Greaves of the Exile is like the weapon the next logical step as it is now available and you should have the resources to craft it
Flame Treads
Flame Treads now finally replace the white boots. There was simply nothing good available so far that made sense so you have rather saved resources by jumping from white to epic directly and with massive 5.5% health it's a great gear item that set you up well here

Best Builds For Hermann

Below you will find the talent tree builds for Hermann that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.

So, here’s the best way to replicate this build when you don’t have Hermann fully maxed, yet:Skill Tree – is the first priority here and you want to get Rejuvenate first for that sweet sweet extra rage and then move over to Feral Nature as fast as possible to get the extra rage. After that get Clarity. Like I said in the beginning, Hermann is here to contribute to the rage generation and this will make him a lot effective doing it. Naked Rage is a side talent that I also recommend to get but you can also go down the Archery Tree before getting this as it’s optional for getting Feral Nature unlocked.Archery Tree – comes next to get up to Venomous Sting that will give him and his secondary commander a real nice buff in damage dealt. I’d try to get Razor Sharp first because it means even more additional rage which helps a lot. If you decide to not get Naked Rage in the Skill Tree you can also think about getting Rapid Fire in the Archery Tree. I don’t find huge differences between the two in performance with Hermann, it’s just if you prefer the consistent buff over trying to get the skills damage boost.
Hermann is also a solid city defender commander, especially if you’re earlier-ish in Rise of Kingdoms and don’t have any stronger legendary commander to protect your city – and that’s the build I recommend that will keep you from getting swarmed too easily.Skill Tree is your first stop. I know this sounds weird because you think defense is about the garrison tree, right? Let me explain… The skill tree doesn’t care about what troops you have and when we talk about city defense you will always have mixed troops so you want all of them to get a buff rather than only having Archer troops buffed, makes sense right? Like in the build above go to Rejuvenate first and then get Clarity with Feral Nature as well. I explained above why you should follow that order so I don’t want to repeat it now.Archer Tree – is the next priority and you want to get Razor Sharp for the extra rage generation, this is very important for Hermann to be as effective as possible so keep that in mind when spending your points in the talent tree. Rapid Fire here is also really important to get because you have mixed troops when defending your city and this will give all of them a buff.Garrison Tree – now should be focused to unlock the Nowhere To Turn skill that also give you additional rage when getting attacked. The reason why using the Archery Tree before that is that you will not just get the extra rage when you defend your city but also for every normal attack which is better in my opinion, especially if you’re using Hermann earlier in Rise of Kingdoms. Last one is Impregnable to lower the skill damage taken.

Conclusion

I hope this guide for building Hermann helped you investing without wasting much time and resources. If you liked it or you further questions (or maybe also annnotations that you believe should be added here in this guide), please don’t hesitate to post them below in the commen section. Thanks for reading and have a great day and see you out in the kingdoms.
