Best Gaius Marius Builds (Talent Tree | Skill Order | Best Pairing) In Rise of Kingdoms

Gaius Marius is a gathering commander so like any other gathering commander you don’t want to do anything else with him than gathering.

Depending on how many gathering commanders you have and how much you can specialize with them the more it makes sense to actually use him to gather food primarily because of his second passive skill which will increase his food-gathering speed.

Nevertheless, if you do anything else with him than gathering I will look at you funny because there’s no use to do anything else with him 🙂

Current Ranking – is Gaius S-Tier, A-Tier, or D-Tier?!

Skill Order

Gaius Marius is a gathering commander and that’s what you should use him for in Rise of Kingdoms.

This is the skill order that I recommend with him:

In the beginning, you can either max out his 1st skill for the healing and also slow down against the enemy. This can help getting out of situations where other players will hunt you down when gathering with Gaius Marius.

If you have the sculptures to start him up, get him to 2-Star. There you should max out his skills until you have his 1st and 2nd skill maxed out before taking him any higher. If you have the sculptures to star him up to 2-Star before you have the 1st skill maxed you can also do that.

Then you can either take him up and max his skills or you take it how you get the sculptures. Don’t use any universal sculptures on Gaius Marius, you will max him out naturally without problems in quite a short period of time.

Best Troops

Take all troops for gathering, but actually siege troops have the biggest capacity so you want to prioritize them.

Best Commander Pairing

I’ll be honest here, pair GAius Marius with whatever commander you want to take. You might get small benefits here and there in case of getting attacked but normally you’ll not going to dominate this situation unless you’re trolling.

There’s no commander that has a skill that will give you a big boost so use what you want with him.

Gaius Marius Builds

So, here’s the build that you should go for, without any exception:

rise of kingdoms gaius marius build gathering

I think it’s obvious that you want to make it to unlock Superior Tools to get that 25% boost out of your gathering tree, but I also know many players that don’t want to invest that much into their gathering commanders to actually get down that far so let’s break down the path for Gaius Marius or any other gathering commander right here.

So, first of all, you want to get Gathering Mastery in the second row for the resource your gathering commander is specialized in – in the case of Gaius Marius that would be food gathering to get 30% extra food gathering speed.

If you only have Gaius Marius on this low level you want to keep it there – if you level him up more you need to get all of them if you ultimately want to make it over to Superior Tools.

I still would do the upper branch in the gathering tree first to get The More The Better because it will give you a 6% bonus once you completed gathering of one tile in addition to what you gathered.

This is how it will look like:

You also get the branch in the middle that will increase your march speed as well before filling the last skill talent points here.

In the end if you want to get Superior Tools you will need to spend the extra talent points anyway but if you don’t want to level up your Gaius Marius that much this is also a build that you can use in between.
