This base combines the open core with the large center core technique and merges that together with a perimeter that is really annoying to deal with so most attacking strategies at Builder Hall 8 will have trouble with this base unless the attacker is able and willing to adapt and develop a strategy against this base (which most won’t do). Had great results using this base for several days in Versus Battles.

This open ring-style approach is different from other bases you see normally at Builder Hall 8 and the reason is not only to counter the trend, it’s also because many attackers are so used to attack the same bases over and over again that a different base will give you an additional edge. But the base also works fine on its own.

This base here is inspired by current Home Village layouts with the open spot and the diamond shapes that form rings. Also works really well for Builder Hall 8 and I had great results with it. This base struggled against maxed higher Builder Halls, but there’s no base I’ve ever seen that works great in these scenarios. After all, a great base to run these days in Versus Battles.

This is a base fully inspired by the maxed bases that use the large core to force attacking troops into a situation where no attacker can control anything about traps, splash or timing and make it a brutal defensive power versus attacking power situation. Works also fine at Builder Hall 8 unless you face a higher Builder Hall attacker but no other base can save you in that case. Had great success running this base so I recommend it here to you.

Ring bases are getting more and more popular at BH8 and this one here is kind-of-ring base but also kind-of-diamond and fuses different defensive techniques together, basically giving the troop AI a wild targeting with the open wall segments but protecting against maxed swarm attacks with the ring structures that act as bulkheads.

A new ring-style for BH8 as I really like how well they work and how many possibilities they offer where to place the traps. This base controls funneling really well and dominates the attacker and, unless you get matched with a higher Builder Hall, you have great chances to take the victory.

A similar approach as the base we had early in August here but the core is divided and with closed compartments and the side sections are opened. Works really well against BH8 attackers with solid ways to funnel attacking troops into the traps and also distract their pathing away from the center section

Ring bases are effective at BH8 and this one is a tweaked version from a base I had here a couple weeks back, with more effective funneling and trap placement that squeezes attacking troops a little more effectively.

This base is a diamond-shaped base for BH8 but also has some ring-base defensive features built-in that help to keep the attacking troops outside the core long enough to group them up well so your splash defenses can take them down more efficiently. The perimeter also helps to make it harder to build a proper funnel towards the core.

Here’s a new approach for a ring base that worked really well for me recently with the open sections that help making the traps really effective as well as funneling troops into the splash defenses in a way that the attacker can’t do much against. The Builder Hall itself is also really well protected so you will gain a good bunch of trophies with this base.

The ring-base style is getting more and more popular recently at BH8 as well as other Builder hall levels and this is a cool base with that style. Perimeter buildings will group up troops and interfere with funneling and the rin will drag troops into the traps. The open sections of the core are covered by the Crushers and make it hard to grad the Builder Hall after the main attack with the Battle Machine, making this base pretty strong.

This diamond shape base defends really well at BH8 if you have your defenses at a proper level. The narrow entry point at the bottom and some other small adaptions from a ring base works effectively against attackers, especially those using ground attacks.

This ring base for BH8 worked really well lately and I can tell you that the way how the perimeter is designed makes a huge difference compared to the normal ring-style bases you see at BH8. In my tests I only saw successful attacks from attackers that have been a higher Builder Hall level.

This base here brings the ring base approach to BH8 and it works really effectively as attackers seem to not know how to build a proper funnel to prevent seeing their troops running around the core and straight into the Crushers. My tests with this base have been really nice with only a few high-percentage 2-Stars.

This diamond-style base for BH8 worked pretty well in my recent tests and with the open sides it’s different from other diamond bases as troops will prefer entering the base from these directions so the attacker often times ruins the attacks. Make sure to place the base in the corner to limit the attacker’s ability to build a funnel.

This BH8 base here has a different approach compared to the other diamonds layouts or closed core layouts as this base uses the Crushers at the entry points to force troops into them as well as the double walls to prevent cracking open any other entrance to the core are. In the core it’s then full force all-in attacking troops versus defenses so the attacker can’t use many troops beforehand to funnel as he will really need them when entering the inside of the base.

This is a really interesting layout for BH8 with the small island in the middle, separated by a wall line in the middle. The effective thing about this base layout is that the attacker can’t get both sides and needs to decide which side to attack. Then there’s the outside perimeter that is really annoying to clear for funneling. Attacking this base is a pain, so use it.

Open diamond layout that works, but in this case the Builder Hall is not in the center to make the attacker choose to either go for the Builder Hall and miss percentage for the 2-Star or going into more defenses and risk not even getting enough percentage for the 1-Star. The outline walls make it hard for ground attacks as breaking through these multiple lines is not easy. Use this base and do solid 2-Star attacks on your own in Versus Battles and this base will deliver results.

Simple diamond shape but with the extra bulkhead layers of walls and the tactical Crusher placement, this BH7 base works really well against pretty much all attacks that you will see in the current Builder Hall 7 meta. It’s all-in defense against offense but the AI often lacks here so you’re in the advantage.

Yes, this base looks a little odd and too open but that’s the advantage. Attacking from the backside is not getting the attacker enough percentage, the sides are well-protected by the double walls and trash buildings around it and the front is simply suicide going straight into all defenses with the traps so the attacker will never make it to the Builder Hall. Maybe not the most creative BH7 base out there, but the one with the best results of all bases I have tested recently.

This is a true ring base and you should understand the mechanics from Home Village. You basically force troops to go around the core and walk into traps and get them decimated before they will even enter the core. The core is well-protected with the Crushers and the other defenses in there so even a late Battle Machine can’t take the Builder Hall easily.

This Builder Hall 8 base here worked quite well recently when I tested it with really effective traps that catched many attackers quite well and messed with their attacks. The core area is full defensive power so they need to push through all of it (and very likely won’t make it) with only little option to break from the backdoor into the Builder Hall. None of the attackers that got the Builder Hall was able to get the 3-Star, so doing a decent attack yourself will help you win the Versus Battle

With all the diamond bases out there here’s a fresh base that uses more smaller compartments with a rung around the Builder Hall in the center and nice entry funnels with traps that work really well against ground troops. I like that there’s no direct path towards the center of the base and this messed up several attacks and got me some nice victories.
You can also switch the Double Cannons with the Crusher, this has been getting me some more victories against attackers that spam attacks

Builder Hall 8 Base – April 13th, 2020
In this base layout, you have no outstanding unique things but it combines the best practices in defending at Builder Hall 8 in Clash of Clans. I really enjoyed how the outside ring of Mines/Collectors did mess with funneling when the attacker attacks from the bottom or top side of the base (and normally that’s the side for ground attacks) and did miss creating a proper funnel for the troops first.
The inside area is full defense-stuffed with the Crushers at the entry that will cost the attacker troops, no matter what he does and with the strong defenses around the Builder Hall you have good chances to prevent a serious 3-Star, unless the attacker is a BH9 (but in this case no base can save you, to be honest). Solid layout.

Finally a fresh layout that is not diamond and it works really well, especially against Night Witches because the distances between the buildings will give you defenses some more time to deal with the bats.
The funnels in around the compartments with the Builder Hall are also helping to funnel troops and mess up with the attacker’s strategy quite well as they need to adapt because this general setup is fresh and they don’t have their strategy against this base they can run down

Yes, it’s a diamond base and we all know how lame they are but the cold hard truth is that these bases work good at Builder Hall 8 and this one has also some cool features that will help you win more Versus Battles.
You have the core as you know it from normal diamond-shaped bases but the top area with the double layer funnel and the tesla combined with the traps work really well against attackers that come from that side (and most do because going full-force through the bottom side is not a smart way to attack). Also the sides have open funnels that make it work well against attackers that don’t give their best (and we all know that many won’t)

Here we have another layout that has a different approach than the bases you see frequently with a double layer – we can call it a ring base. The nice thing here is that it’s not easy to get a funnel done that will lead troops into the core and the more time they spend walking on the outside, the more your traps and defenses can shred them plus time will become an issue.
By the time they get towards the inside they already lost substantial strength and won’t make it through the area that will be full of defenses.

Builder Hall 8 Base – January 13th, 2020
This whole general base setup is nothing new and also useful at BH9 and still among those layouts proven to work best overall.
In general you have a large core area where the Builder Hall is surrounded by the hardest defenses and also high-hitpoint buildings. The sideway entries are guarded by Crushers that will put a lot of damage to any ground attack style.
The attacker basically has two options to attack this base… one is going from the Builder Hall short end but this means he will get the Builder Hall but struggle to get enough buildings down to get 50% (with a decent risk to not even get the Builder Hall, depending on his attacking strategy).
His other option is taking the long run from the opposite side – this will get him enough percentage for 1-Star but it’s hard to get the Builder Hall for the second Star – and this is what most attackers still struggle against this base. This comes down to very precise timing as well as a quantum luck after all.
You can see in the image that troops won’t make it long enough to reach the Builder Hall because they have to fight through pure rows of defenses line after line and the strongest ones are the ones last in line next to the Builder Hall when the troops are weaker anyways. And, like I said, an attack from the other side can fall short as well (easily). Troops seem to not be able to bypass the Crushers just like that and they always get soaked into them.
No matter how you play it, here and there a good attacker will pick up a higher 1-Star or very low 2-Star attack against this base, but after all this design will really help you win at Builder Hall 8. 3-Star attacks are really uncommon against this base, unless your defenses are at BH6 level or crucial defenses are under upgrade at the moment.
