Infantry is the full way to go with him with his skills being a lot about infantry
Best Commander Pairing for William Wallace
Liu Che is, without any doubt, the best pairing with William Wallace and you might want to think about using William as the secondary commander but that depends a lot on where your progress is so for sure test out both combinations but you will not find a better pairing with William Wallce than Liu Che (See full build here).
Scipio Africanus (Prime) is a possible pair but honestly Liu Che is working so much better with William and Scipio has also way better pairings, even with a commander like Alexander in the current meta that I really won’t recommend it that much (See full build here).
Gorgo is also a possible pair and the good news here is for the open field she doesn’t have to be that much built. But, again, Liu Che is working so much better (See full build here).

Best Talent Tree Builds For William Wallace
Below you will find the talent tree builds for William Wallace that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Smite is the way to go with him, I mean everything else makes little to no sense. I am not the big fan of how the Smite Tree is aligned that makes you basiaclly go all-in to get the final node, but the talents are all pretty good so there is not too much to regret there (except maybe the fact that I would love to spend more talent points since they are all so good). Go first into the Smite Tree and unlock the final node before investing in the Infantry Tree.
Best Formation + Armaments
Formation and Armaments are supposed to work perfectly with your commanders kit or you will find yourself very quickly in a disadvantage on the battlefield – and with so many variations it can be tough to stay on top. Here is what the works best in today’s meta:
