Best Troops

Scipio doesn’t care about troops types at all, making him really versatile.

Best Commander Pairing for Scipio Africanus

Aethelflaed

Constantine
Constantine
Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc
Sun Tzu
Sun Tzu
Boudica
Boudica

Aethelflaed has a great synergy with Scipio and is a piaring I can definitely recommend (See full build here).

Constantine is also a viable and super tanky march, but by the time you have access to Constantine you also have other great options as commanders you very unlikely will use Scipio much (See full build here).

Joan of Arc works really fine as well with her support tree but she’s overall a good epic pairing for every commander in Rise of Kingdoms (See full build here).

Sun Tzu will not get the skill bonus but the rage engine that Sun Tzu provides makes a pretty good synergy with Scipio, too (See full build here).

Boudica provides some nice healing as a secondary commander (See full build here).

Best Talent Tree Builds For Scipio Africanus

Below you will find the talent tree builds for Scipio Africanus that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.

This is actually the only really effective build for Scipio if you use him for the open field. So, here’s the order how you should spend your talent points:

Attack Tree is the best one here and you should take the route towards Effortless as fast as possible because it will give a huge damage boost to the army troops. The reason why you should pick that route first is that you also will get extra march speed, Lord of War (extra damage for your army) and Burning Blood for some extra rage generation. Especially if you star Scipio up you will get a nice boost from Lord of War as well.

Next you should pick the attack tree branch to Martial Mastery. This talent is perfect for Scipio because it will give your army a boost while reducing the skill damage you deal, which is in the case of Scipio none 🙂

Next up is the Leadership Tree and I’d take it to Armed To The Teeth on the right side first. You’ll be using a mixed army with him and this gives again a nice damage boost to your troops.

After that you want to spend your talent points on Armed To The Teeth on the left side that will reduce your damage taken. I like this order because Scipio is alreay quite defensive and has no active skill damage so all extra damage for the troops is welcome.

There’s no reason to go for Name of the King, because you don’t want to rally with Scipio, especially with this build so it would not be worth a talent point at all (you’ll find a build for rallying below).

So, if you really want to rally with Scipio for whatever reason, here’s the build that you should use and that makes most sense. Of course you need to max out the Conquering Tree here, but I recommend getting Entrenched first, not only because it’s very useful but also the points on the way give you some nice benefits.

Next stop will be Tear of Blessing which will also give some damage reductions for rallies. I personally don’t like Tear of Blessing that much because it plain reduced the troops that die, I’d rather would have that reduced by either damage taken reduction or damage dealt boost like Entrenched.

Still, if you want to get Meteor Shower you will need it and that’s the order you should do it.

In the Attack Tree you will make it over to Effortless for the same reasons I mentioned above, it’s a good damage boost and rallies against a city will last long enough to get the full boost for sure.

Last you should spend your talent points in the Leadership Tree and get Healing herbs there because it makes sense to use and Scipio has this one skill that elevates the healing so they will go hand in hand quite fine. Hidden Wrath will complete this talent build and help you a lot with the additional rage that will turn into defensive buffs with Scipio’s first active skill.

Best Formation + Armaments

Formation and Armaments are supposed to work perfectly with your commanders kit or you will find yourself very quickly in a disadvantage on the battlefield – and with so many variations it can be tough to stay on top. Here is what the works best in today’s meta:
