Skill Order

When you star up Sargon, you also unlock a new skill. This helps you fine-tune in what order you want to upgrade the skills of your commander as not all skills are equally good and worth maxing or worth maxing first (in general) – this helps to invest your sculptures more reasonably to get the biggest bang for your buck.

With the first skill it’s the same as with every legendary commander in Rise of Kingdoms, max it out before you star Sargon up. From here it gets interesting and after several weeks of testing I believe there’s something important to mind if you plan on building Sargon. His 2nd skill increases skill damage taken by the enemy by up to 30% (and you can reach that quick if you pair him with a commander like Guan Yu). plus additional buffs. This is a magic toolkit here so make sure to also max this skill out before staring up Sargon. Now the special thing here is, his 4th skill will wait until you have the full 10 stacks of debuffs spplied to the enemy and then give you a shield and deal some direct damage. But you will overall be better if you keep those 10 stacks from the 2nd skill applied on the enemy so I highly recommend to only max out his first 3 skills and then stop starring him up and neglect his 4th skill and his expertised skill and you will deal more damage with that setup!

Best Troops

Although Sargon is a Infantry commander, none of his skills require to only run infantry troops in a march to work, but he has a ton of buffs that only apply to infantry troops so it’s best to run as many of them in your march as possible.

Best Commander Pairing for Sargon

Guan Yu is an incredible pair for Sargon as not only oyu will gain the additional AoE damage from Guan Yu, you will also be able to gain more additional skill damage triggers from his expertise skill that will help building your stacks of debuffings from Sargons 2nd skill. Find the talent builds for Guan Yu here.
Tariq Ibn Ziyad works also well together with Sargon as their skills go so well hand-in-hand. I mean that’s most of the times the case when Rise of Kingdoms releases new commanders together and this is no exception. Find the talent builds for Tariq Ibn Ziyad here.
Scipio Africanus (Prime) is another commander that goes well with Sargon and provides a ton of benefits, espcially in the open field. In this setup I’d actually run Sargon as the primary commander. Find the talent builds for Scipio Africanus (Prime) here.
Alexander the Great can make a great fast single-target march along Sargon and you can even use Sargon as the secondary commander and save yourself some nice resources. Find the talent builds for Alexander the Great here.
Honda Tadakatsu is a pairing I haven’t tested to excessively but they seem to work really well along each other with the march speed and a viable setup for the open field, too. Find the talent builds for Honda Tadakatsu here.

Best Equipment

In terms of equipment, here’s what I recommend to use as the route for Sargon:
Infantry doesn’t have a favored gear set that you should go for in general, but I recommend aiming to equip this commander with Windswept items as basic equipment and then start aiming for Witch’s Lineage, Quinn’s Soul, Gatekeeper’s Shield, Seth,s Brutality, Kuruak’s Humility and Frost Treads when you gear it towards max

Horn of Fury is a very important accessory for Sargon as it will allow him to get his active skill going quicker, making normal attacks deal skill damage and stacking up the skill debuff from his 2nd skill. Now that the enemy takes 30% more skill damage, cycling through his active skill gets even more important.
Ring of Doom is probably the other best choice to increase the damage as you will gain more damage without requirements.

Best Builds For Sargon

Below you will find the talent tree builds for Sargon that make sense when running as the primary commander in any march in Rise of Kingdoms. Please also refer to the description below each talent tree as I explain a general route on how you should spend your talents there + some additional background for each talent build that I very likely will appreciate.

This is my favorite talent build for Sargon as it will make sure that he generates as much rage as possible as cycling through his active skill is so important. You can use that in the open field, you can use it for rallying. The swiss-army knife of talent builds with Sargon. Invest into rejuvenate first and then right away into Clarity as those are talents that work like they are created for Sargon. Then max out the skill tree before picking up additional benefits in the Infantry Tree.

This is an alternative talent builds for Sargon that I’d only use for open field combat and the idea here is to maximize his potential by making sure your enemy won’t get away during the fight easily to trash your precious active skill that needs full 5 seconds to take impact perfectly. I personally like the rage build above more, but this also has some charm, espcially when it comes to march speed.

Conclusion

I hope this guide for building Sargon helped you invest without wasting much time and resources.
