Important! If you want to check how well the heroes in general perform in the current meta of Sea of Conquest, please check out my current tier list of all heroes here. Also really important is that you check out my overview where I have builds for all kinds of ships and damages that will help you build your formation: Check out all ship and hero formations in Sea of Conquest here.
This is the builds for a full defensive ship, not your flagship! This is only used if you turn your flaghsip into a decoy ship to taunt and pull aggro early in battles.

How the part check works
A random roll is rarely perfect. This check tells you which of your parts are worth your upgrade resources and which ones are only placeholders.
-
Tap a partEvery part of your ship can be entered. Empty parts pulse until you fill them in.
-
Enter what's on itPick the set and main stat, then tap the 4 substats in the cloud. Rolled the same stat twice? Tap it twice.
-
Read the verdictEach part gets a call on whether to spend resources on it. Main stat, substats and set all count.
-
Sets count for the whole shipThe 4-piece of the best set scores highest. Mixing two good 2-pieces comes close, sets outside the build don't count.
-
% beats BaseA Base stat (flat) is worth a good bit less than its % version. Empty substat slots count as zero, so fill them all in.
Best Heroes for your Defensive Ship
Here are the ideal setups with the position replacements that you can choose from your roaster so you can build the ideal setup that is possible for you:
Find the first card with a crew you can build — that is your ship today. Then follow the arrows: every next card is your next upgrade as new heroes arrive.
- 1Each card is a full crew: Captain, First Mate and Gunner — slots 1–3 of your ship. Other slots only add stats.
- 2NEW marks who joins; the line under the card says who leaves.
- 3PRO: tap “Don't have it” under heroes you don't own and the timeline rebuilds around your roster.
- 4Tap a hero for their build guide: ideal skill upgrade levels and artifacts.
Don't have every hero? With PRO you tick the ones you're missing and the whole timeline rebuilds around your own roster — so every step is a ship you can actually sail.

Conclusion
I hope this guide here helps you build your ships in your formation well as this is so important for your progress long-term. Don’t just randomly throw together heroes and ships of the highest rarity, build your ships for specific causes! Also, I will update this guide with new heroes released in the future so this will be your go-to guide to see what heroes and items to work on.
