There is no single answer here as Cursed Ed is by far the most universal hero and can be used on pretty much all ships with pretty much all heroes in your formation.
How to unlock
Spyglass works similar to Spyglass and gives an attack buff that works similar to Cursed Ed’s kit. Tyrants Hand works similar to Spyglass and gives an attack buff that works similar to Cursed Ed’s kit.

Ed works with all heroes in Sea of Conquest which makes him the most universal hero in the game at this p
Best Ship Parts
The Ship Parts depend heavily what hero setup you use Cursed Ed with. He works with a Flagship setup that is tanky or a damage dealing ship so he can apply his damage scaling attributes.
