What’s new in FC 27 Ultimate Team
Streamlined SBCs
The biggest quality-of-life change is a new, streamlined Squad Building Challenge format that runs alongside the classic one. Instead of juggling chemistry and rating requirements, every player carries a numerical value that counts toward an overall target. A challenge with a goal of 2,000 can be completed with ten players worth 200 each or two players worth 1,000. You can submit duplicates and finish a challenge across several sessions, which cuts much of the busywork out of squad building. One catch: the new format is not available in the Companion App at launch.
The FUT Gallery
FC 27 introduces the FUT Gallery, a digital collection book that keeps a record of every player you have owned, even if you discarded the card or used it in an SBC. You can organize these records into Gallery sets, such as eleven Premier League players. Unlike SBCs, the players stay in your club, and completed sets earn cosmetics and Gallery Tokens. Sets are graded from D to S based on player quality, and if you jump straight to a higher grade you collect the rewards for every grade below it. Loan players do not count, and Evolution upgrades are not reflected.
Holographic items and sized packs
Holographic cards are a new rarity. They play identically to their standard versions but score higher in the Gallery, so they matter for set grades rather than results on the pitch. Do not overpay for one if you only care about performance. EA has also dropped the old Common and Rare split, and packs now come in sizes from Mini through Giant.
Hall of FUT
The new Hall of FUT celebrates community cult heroes, with an inaugural class of Adebayo Akinfenwa, Marouane Fellaini, Loïc Rémy, Eljero Elia and Giovani Dos Santos. Base versions are earned with Gallery Tokens from the Gallery Token Store, Ultimate Plus owners received a pick of one of the five, and EA says special Campaign versions will follow.
Gameplay changes worth knowing
On the pitch, EA’s theme is “more control”. Tackling is meant to be a deliberate, player-led action, manually controlled defenders jockey faster, attackers make smarter curved runs, corners have been redesigned, and PlayStyles have been rebalanced against attributes. The players who dominated last year’s meta will not necessarily be the best value this time, so test cards in Squad Battles before you commit coins to them.
Your first week: a step-by-step plan
1. Hold off on opening packs
Card prices tend to be at their highest in the first days after launch, because supply is low and demand is enormous. Selling tradeable items you get early and waiting to open packs until prices settle is a long-standing FUT habit.
2. Clear the Foundations objectives
EA’s Foundations objectives, starting with groups like “The Journey Begins”, are built to walk new players through the mode, and they pay out packs and player items along the way. Clear them before chasing anything else.
3. Recycle cards through streamlined SBCs
Because the streamlined SBCs only care about total value, they are perfect for turning duplicates and untradeables into packs. Check the SBC tab daily, as early upgrade challenges are often the best value of the cycle.
4. Plan your Gallery sets early
Since the Gallery remembers every player you have owned, you do not need to keep cards in your club for them to count. Before you discard or submit a player, check which sets they belong to so you are not chasing the same card twice.
How to make coins without risk
EA has significantly raised post-match coin rewards in Rivals, Champions and Squad Battles, and every Rivals pack reward is now tradeable. Eligible matches also award 15 to 100 Season Points, up to 850 a day. That makes simply playing more rewarding than in recent editions. A few other steady sources:
- Trade simply. Buy popular league and nation players when prices dip and sell when demand recovers. Prices often dip late at night and rise in the evening, though patterns vary by platform and promo. Always factor in the 5% Transfer Market tax.
- Sell what you will not use. Duplicates, high-rated players outside your formation and in-form cards you will not play are worth more as coins or SBC fodder than sitting in your club.
- Stack objectives. Weekly and promo objectives pay out alongside your match rewards, so play the modes they ask for.
Shortcuts and ban risk
Every FC launch brings a wave of shortcut offers, and FC 27 is no exception. Within days of release, sites advertising coin-selling services, Transfer Market bots and EA FC 27 Cheats were already competing for players’ attention, especially those frustrated by the early-season grind. Before considering any of them, it is worth understanding how EA polices the mode.
On PC, FC 27 uses EA Javelin, EA’s kernel-level anti-cheat, which runs whenever the game is open. EA’s rules are also stricter than many players realize: sending coins to another account, even a friend’s, counts as coin distribution, as does buying or selling items far above or below their usual price to move coins. Penalties range from coin removal and Transfer Market restrictions to club deletion and account bans. If you value a club you have spent weeks building, the risk is rarely worth it.
Final tips
With streamlined SBCs, bigger match rewards and a Gallery that rewards long-term collecting, FC 27’s Ultimate Team should feel more approachable than recent editions. Clear the Foundations objectives first, hold off on packs until prices settle, recycle unwanted cards through SBCs and play your matches for coins. Follow that plan through October and you will have a competitive squad well before Team of the Year arrives in January.
