Best Pets in SOULS – Tier List

Along with the 1st year celebration SOULS released pets – not a absolute novelty in games like this but the execution is a little different so after testing them I wanted to give you some general strategy here about the pets and also some of my personal throughts.

How Pets Work in SOULS

So the feature is quite straightforward – you can pull pets like heroes for diamonds and when you gather copies you can upgrade them to unlock higher skill levels (and passive skills for the higher-rarity ones).

During battle you can deploy one pet in a slot like you would deploy a hero where they then use their skills and apply their passives if they have any.

My Personal Throughs/Critic (Honest)

Honestly, pets are quite an expectable feature for a game like SOULS after 1 year, but the execution of the devs in SOULS give me such a headache. Here are my main issues:

• Feels without love. There are basically 5 pets in each rarity that have pretty much the same kit. Even their character design is pretty much the same and they only differ in higher multipliers on their skill or have a passive. It feels as if the devs rushed this feature out to present it for the update of the 1st anniversary and went absolutely minimalistic to make that happen
• There is literally no strategic depth. There is no real synergy with certain teams, heroes or combos. The pets heal, reduce damage or deal damage and have here and there some minor debuffing going on. There are no strong niche kits that you want in certain battles or modes. You literally want to build 1-2 epic rarity ones and use them. Plain straightforward power-creep

So, with that being said, I hope they will rework or enhance that feature in the near future because right now this only feels like a diamond-grave to suck out currency of the player pool without enhancing anything. You can literally run the same pet in every comp and mode and be good to go. And I hope they will not do that by simply releasing a new pet every month.

Best Pets

So, here is the pets you want to build but since you need to pull copies there is not much strategic depth at this point so rather go for the hero tier list primarily when building your roaster:

Gladis

S+

Nice damage trageting + energy reduction and magic damage reduction from the passive make it quite a nice pet.

Rarity:Epic

Tianum

S

The traits are great but only valid for 1 turn so this turns quite RNG at times. If you have the passive skill there is quite some energy battery included which makes him a lot more versatile as pet.

Hamm

A+

Healing and debuff removal make him a very universal pet.

Romaelle

A

Some damage although is not changing the world and some damage reduction against physical teams. More niche than universal use.

Zelu

A

Some healing which is not incredibly much but reliable.

Ramu

A

Has to be maxed to get the energy reduction but hen it is very likely one of the strongest rare pets in SOULS.

Nasrune

B+

Some damage but the shield is very rarely applying where you need it.

Goe

B+

Flat damage. Not crazy but it works and is damage on all enemies at the end of the day.

Shantoom

The weaker version of Tianum without the passive.

Lukon

B

Weaker version of Romaelle without the physical damage reduction of the passive which isn't really that much unless you specifically need phy damage reduction.

Chips some damage with nice targeting but won't change the world.

Flat damage reduction for only 1 turn.
