His big deal is that he can imprison and reduce tharget turn meter so that should be your focus building him. In terms of his Exclusive Skill, his Exclusive Level 1 is almost mandatory as it will help him imprison so much more that he will help your team a lot more.
Best Gear & Stats for Schist
Those are the main set items where you always equip 2 items per set (or maybe 4) to get the main set bonus. The more complex part are the substats as each gear item and artifact will get random substats that can be great or not.
