Using a base design found on the internet is quite popular these days and I would guess that a big majority of all Clashers who actually get additional content for the game from the internet use them. There are many talented base designers out there who love working on new base layouts and putting them online for public use. I tend to use base designs I find on the web because many are solid and I simply don’t have the time to work on a new base design every week.
While matching up, either in normal multiplayer battles, Clan War or Versus Battles, I often see popular internet bases more and more often. There’s nothing bad about using a base you find on the internet, but there are some things you need to consider to not see negative results right away. Just taking them without any further checks is a little thoughtless.
In this guide, I want to show you why internet bases tend to be vulnerable and what you need to check before copying a base you found on the web.
Popularity Of Internet Base Layouts
I can completely understand the popularity of taking a base design from YouTube or somewhere else (allclash 🙂 ).You will get solid base layouts that work and are created by talented base designers. They know what they’re doing and if you’re not into base design yourself, why not use a base that works?
Now, if you just search for base designs on Google or YouTube, you’ll just get an overkill!
So many bases
Many of them outdated
Which are the solid ones?
Here’s what I do.
Only Fresh Bases
I never take a base design older than 1 month. The reason is simple, the older they get, the more players know how to break them properly. The idea that there are bases out there that can’t be beaten is a myth and I don’t want to make it easy for the attacker, especially since some tubers started to just make series on how to break popular internet bases
With the filter for 1 month I also am sure that I won’t get outdated bases. Just to be sure I always check for the latest added stuff in the base (latest defense, the amount of walls etc.).
It’s just too bad if you start rebuilding it and then see that some stuff is missing and you wasted the time and effort.
The Solid Ones Only
Youtube is a place where it’s sometimes hard to separate the truth from the bait.
Make sure to check the views (1) and the ratings (2) of the base!
Avoid bases with a ton of views (like 200k+), but also the ones with less than 5k views. If you like to support smaller channels you can skip the next sentences here and go to the next section 🙂
The rating should always be more than 100 ratings and the ratio never be worst than 7:1 (each negative rating should equal at least 7 positive ratings).
Also make sure to check the comments what people say about that layout.
Vulnerability Of Internet Bases
Popularity is the biggest kryptonite of internet bases. Some are so popular that you will come across them multiple times when searching for a base to attack.
There is no such thing as an unbeatable base!!!
Good bases tend to work for quite some time, but the more popular they get, the more likely someone will find a way to beat them. Many YouTubers have dedicated episodes where they specifically show how famous internet bases can be beaten.
So, is it wrong to take a base from the internet?
Of course not. They are solid and only a small percentage will have attacking plans available. What you shouldn’t do, however, is simply copy a base layout you find and with some small tweaks you can also beat the attackers that know how to beat a certain layout.

Better Use Of Internet Bases
Well, you have found an interesting design you would like to use?
Don’t simply copy-paste the base design! Before you put together a prepped base layout from the internet, you should take some steps.
Check The Base Layout
The base might look good, but everyone in the world can upload videos. Don’t trust it just because it’s there!
Check the design for some of the crucial mistakes!
Here are some things you should never have in a base.
This makes it very easy to wipe out the core or Balloons can splash-damage destroy your Town Hall.
I think these are the most common stuff on internet bases that need to get fixed.
Remember, you don’t need to search another base if you find one of these in an internet base layout you like – you can try to fix it yourself and have a great base.
The latest thing I came up with was rotating the design by 90 degrees or 180 degrees. This often times cloaks that you’re using a famous internet layout on one hand and also confuses people who attack them according to a guide they found on the internet.
So here you can see the layout I used and how it looks when I rotated it.
You will really have to look a couple of times to see that this is the same layout 🙂
I know it takes some additional time to rebuild it but you’ll be able to catch some successful defenses with it – of course, it won’t be the magical change that will make you defend successfully every single time but if you catch additional 10% it’s already worth the effort easily!
Modify The Traps!
You have to modify the traps because they give you the element of surprise. One reason why popular internet bases are beaten quite fast is because they all use the traps in the same positions! Make sure to:
- Change Giant Bomb Locations! Especially if there are double Giant Bombs featured in the base.
- Switch Spring Traps!
Here’s by the way a great technique how you can improve your trap setup step by step:
I recommend most players use internet bases – they are solid and they will work. In the end, you will need to make some adaptions of your own. Otherwise, you will end up changing your base layout very often. No pain, no gain.
