Team Building Guide for FIFA Mobile (Look At These Stats!)

Best OVR team here, OVR there… most people in FIFA Mobile tend to go primarily after their OVR rating.

So how come that you can beat a higher OVR team or get just defeated by a lower OVR squad?

The reason is simple, OVR is more like a recommendation in FIFA Mobile and while it is a solid indication for lower players you can go advanced from here.

Why OVR Is Not The Best

Let’s say you’re about to make a decision which player you want to swap in and you’re not sure which one will be the better one – one has a slightly higher OVR than the other one.

If you’re a beginner in FIFA Mobile, you probably will take the higher OVR player without thinking much about it so here’s a really helpful and simplified overview what stats really matter at positions – yes, sometimes a lower OVR or player from another position can work out better ????

important stats in fifa mobile

Below you find my personal recommendation of the primary stats that you should check for a player before swapping him into your squad – this might lower your OVR but raise the power of your team.

What Stats Really Matter

Let’s go through the positions, if you have any annotations I’d appreciate if you leave a comment below 🙂

Goal Keeper (GK)

Your goalkeeper is the last resort against any attempt and you really want to pick him wisely. Instead of looking at the OVR, you rather want to check out:

  1. GK POSITIONING
  2. REFLEXES
  3. REACTIONS

These three are the key stats that you need to look after that will determine if your goalkeeper is able to catch an attempt or not.

Center Back (CB)

Right in front of your goalie are the center backs and I prefer to look at these three stats:

  1. MARKING
  2. HEADING
  3. PACE

Marking is the ability for the player to stand goal side and cut off passes of attempting opponents properly and the higher that is, the better their position will be and limit down the possibilities that your opponent will pass through your defensive lines.

Heading should be clear, it’s the ability to win the ball in the air and your center backs are always the last when a ball comes towards the middle zone, either from the running match or from a corner.

The last important one is speed (pace). You don’t want the enemy striker to be able to outrun your center back easily and some of them are really slow although they have good overall stats, so make sure you have a fast center back, it’s worth it.

Outside Back (RB & LB)

Unlike the center backs, your outside backs will be more important to not let a player break on the sides but also to help out attacking – check these stats:

  1. ACCELERATION
  2. MARKING
  3. POSITIONING

For me, the marking and positioning is important because this helps you to actively defend in Versus Mode instead of being rather passive there.

The acceleration is also important to catch a long through or also include them into your own attacks.

Center Defensive Mid (CDM)

Your last defensive line in front of your defense should have good stats in:

  1. AGGRESSION
  2. SLIDING TACKLE
  3. INTERCEPTIONS

I usually use the CDM as a secondary line of defense so the speed is not really my primary concern at this position – and this is usually how this position is played.

Aggression will help you to keep early pressure on attacking players while sliding tackle and interceptions will make this player really annoying to deal with before the defensive line even comes into play.

Center Mid (CM)

  1. SHORT / LONG PASSING
  2. BALL CONTROL
  3. LONG SHOT

Your center mid is the beat of your squad and will be responsible for anything opening move that will lead to an attack, that’s why the most important stats here are passing and controlling the ball and making sure that the ball reaches its destination.

Center Attacking Mid (CAM)

  1. LONG SHOT
  2. SHOT POWER
  3. BALL CONTROL

This position is attempting a lot more on the goal so you want a player here that is able to either through the ball for a striker or overcome the defending line with ball control himself.

Often enough, this is also the player that will get an attempt with a rebound ball or get the ball in the center box so shot power is also very important for him – pace is not that important at this position.

Outside Mids (RM & LM)

  1. SPRINT SPEED
  2. DRIBBLING
  3. FINISHING

Here’s where the speed is more important to get in a nice position on the flanks to get the ball into the center, so you want a really agile player here that’s fast and can also overcome an opponent with dribbling and speed.

Striker (ST & All Other)

Now let’s have a look at the players that normally strike the goals for you:

  1. FINISHING (of course!)
  2. ACCELERATION
  3. DRIBBLING

Wings, center strikers and all positions works similar here when it comes to their stats. Obviously finishing is the most important stats over the others and speed can also be very helpful when you want to make a fast attempt on the goal. Good dribbling helps but I will always focus on finishing here, unless it’s a wing player where dribbling can be a little more important.

Conclusion

I know you might disagree here and there and this is all a simplified help for you to decide between two players if you’re not sure which one will work better. If you have any more things to consider, please let me know in the comments ✌️

  1. Well, its a good article and I’m responding late. Although it may be true, my first year with Fifa mobile 22 is this year and I enjoy it. Sometimes. Money pit, but I’m learning sales.😉

I’ve found or think I have, that EA uses equity matching algorithms and they don’t always match up. Sometimes I’m beating 130 all Icons and next Im losing to a 110. Especially in Manager Mode. I believe these algorithms are there and don’t match folks very good. But in your article there is truth. Even EA I think, recently compared Ronaldinho 107 to Raphina 102. So there’s that.
