Low Heroes Attacking Strategies

guide for low heroes

If you watch attack replays and tutorials on YouTube Channels or in Clan War, many attacks look very easy. Most of them utilize maxed Heroes. What can you do if you don’t have high-level Heroes or maybe one is upgrading right now? Adaption in your attacking game is critical and I want to show you some techniques in this guide.

Problem With Lower Heroes

Heroes are massive attacking monsters and they can take out a big part of a base all on their own. If you simply take a look at the raw numbers, you’ll see the difference. If you compare a level 20 Hero with the stats of a maxed Hero, you’ll see that they deal almost twice the damage and have almost twice as many hitpoints. It’s no surprise they change the outcome of an attack.

A maxed Archer Queen with activated ability can destroy a Town Hall with 5 shots. Her Level 20 version needs almost 12 shots and runs out of the ability before that happens.

The Queen Walk With a low-level Queen

Many use an attacking stage called the Queen Walk. This uses the Archer Queen with 4-5 Healers to clear out a big part of the base, pull and kill the Clan Castle Troops and potentially wipe out the defending Heroes:

In replays this looks so easy to do, but only if you have an Archer Queen Level 30+. If you’re doing it with an Archer Queen Level 15, you’ll have a hard time because you have to carefully watch her health and use Rage Spells to keep her up.

It’s still possible, but not that much fun:

Attacking with lower-level Heroes

When it comes to attacking, you should  not use an attacking strategy that needs the Archer Queen to go for the Town Hall!

Like I mentioned in the beginning, your Queen might not be strong enough if there are remaining defenses or defending Heroes.

You will need to make attacks that work with the Heroes within your kill squad. I recommend using either LaLoon or GoWiPe:

Upgrading Your Heroes

Upgrading your heroes is a pain. Not only does it cost a fortune, but you will not be able to use them during that period and you’ll miss them in Clan Wars a lot. In my opinion, this is the reason so many have crippled Heroes in TH10 or TH11. I, myself, am suffering from this now. They would be max by now if I could use them in Clan Wars during the upgrading process.

Anyway, you have to do it sooner or later. Here’s my recommended minimum required Hero levels per Town Hall:

  • Town Hall 9: Heroes at Level 15 before you think about going to TH10.
  • Town Hall 10: Make sure you have Heroes at least Level 25. Better would be Level 30 before you move to TH11.
  • Town Hall 11: If your Heroes are not Level 30, you need to do anything you can to get them there as soon as possible.

This is just a rough recommendation, but it will make a difference!

If you have lower Heroes, you will have more problems, that’s a fact. Upgrading them sooner will save you trouble later.

What To Do If Your Hero Is Upgrading?

I wish I could tell you the secret of how to use them while upgrading, but there isn’t one. You can either gem the upgrade time or you live without them. Gemming sounds nice, but who can afford the roughly 700 Gems per level? I can’t and I don’t think you can either.

Most of you are probably part of a clan that frequently does Clan Wars, but doesn’t live to do the hardcore war clan life. In this case, switch your attacking strategy to one of the above (GoWiPe or LaLoon) and attack a lower enemy. Unfortunately, that’s all you can do. There is still hope we will be able to use our Heroes during upgrades after one of the 2016 Updates.
