How To Get More Legendary Cards in Clash Royale (Every Chest Covered)

Here you will see the best tactics how you can unlock more Legendary Cards in Clash Royale without spending any money.

Legendary Cards are without any doubt the most powerful in Clash Royale – the only downside is, they are not easy to get and leveling them up is also very hard. However, to keep up with the other players you need them and I took a look at all the possibilities and will give you a great overview where you can unlock Legendary Cards best and how you can maximize the chances to get more Legendary Cards in Clash Royale.

In the first part, I will show you which chests are the best in terms of getting Legendary Cards and in the second part I will give you some additional tips that will help you gettingĀ Legendary Cards in general.

How To Get A Legendary Card From A Chest

The first section is all about getting a Legendary Card from a chest – in fact, it’s only random with different chances to get such a Legendary Card when unlocking a chest.

Forget anything you heard about a certain order to unlock chests or any other such tips – there are mathematical chances and nothing else.

It can happen that you see someone getting 2 Legendary Cards in a row from a Free Chest (even though the chance is 1 to 250,000 and also someone could not get a single Legendary Card from a free chest after opening one thousand of them.

The key here is that you should aim for those chests with the best chances for a Legendary Card!

There’s no reason to get 4x Magical Chests instead of getting one Super Magical Chest – the chances for a Legendary Card is still higher in the single Super Magical Chest šŸ™‚

Clan War Season Chest Chances To Get A Legendary Card

Every end of Clan War Season will reward you with a War Chest – the inside of the chest is determined by the place and league you finished the season in.

Legendaries From Challenge Chests

challenge chest in clash royaleChallenges let you compete against other players in random 1-on-1 matches and you need to get 12 victories before you lose 3 matches to get a great reward. I know many people tend to not play them that much because it costs Gems to take part, but if you’re a decent player and have some experience it’s the best way to get great rewards for little Gems paid.

Here you can have a look at the chances that your Challenge Chest will contain a Legendary Card:

Challenge Wins Chances for a Legendary Card
Grand Challenge Classic Challenge
0 0.62% 0.06%
1 0.93% 0.09%
2 1.56% 0.16%
3 2.65% 0.25%
4 4.06% 0.38%
5 5.78% 0.53%
6 7.81% 0.72%
7 10.31% 0.79%
8 13.12% 0.94%
9 16.56% 1.19%
10 20.93% 1.91%
11 26.87% 2.44%
12 34.37% 3.13%

The great thing is, you do not need to get the full 12 victories to get a nice chance for a Legendary, you also have good chances when getting 8 or more victories – something that an average player can get easily!

With 8 victories in a grand Challenge, you will get basically a Magical Chest as reward and you can still do better – a sweet deal šŸ™‚

Leagues Draft Chest

If you are above 4,000 Trophies, youā€™re matched within a League and after the season ending, you get a Draft Chest which has extremely high chances for a Legendary Card (or even 2).

Not only the drop chances are insanely high, you also will be able to choose between two cards and take the one that is more useful to you, so you can see this a double chance for a Legendary Card because you have twice the chance to get the Legendary Card you need šŸ™‚

  • Challenger IĀ 32% chance of a legendary
  • Challenger IIĀ 47% chance
  • Challenger III 63% chance
  • Master IĀ 100% chance
  • Master II 100% chance
  • Master IIIĀ 100% chance of one legendary, 9% chance of two legendaries
  • ChampionĀ 100% chance of one, 25% chance of a secondary
  • Grand ChampionĀ 100% chance of one, 41% chance of a secondary
  • Ultimate ChampionĀ 100% chance of one, 56% chance a secondary

General Tips For More Legendary Cards

Congratulations that you’ve read the whole number craziness above, but I hope you now understand which chests are the valuable ones to go after.

Here are now some light-weight tips (no math, I promise) that will help you getting more legendaries in the long run in Clash Royale šŸ™‚

Always 500 Gems In Your Pocket

Once in a while, you will see this offer appearing in the shop – and 500 Gems for a guaranteed legendary is a deal you should take!

Even if you’re a F2P and don’t spend any real money on the game, getting 500 Gems isn’t that difficult and once you got it you shoudln’t drop below that only for getting this offer when it becomes available.

Legendaries From The Shop

get legendaries from shop in clash royale40,000 Gold for the first card, 80,000 for the second… when you have a lot of Gold and can afford buying a Legendary Card from the shop you should only buy the first card offered for 40,000 Gold.

So, same rule as for the 500 Gems above – always have 40,000 Gold available in case the Legendary Card of your dreams will come along in the shop – this is the best chance you have to level your favorite legendaries up and you shouldn’t miss it just because you’re low in Gold.
